Whoa. Street artist Judith Supine scaled the Williamsburg Bridge and installed his latest piece, ‚”Above the City in a Summer Night Dream,” right up there at the top.

Girl Talk
Though the concert itself was amazing, it was the fun people of the crowd who made the event so epic. By far the largest Pool Party of the season. There were so many people on stage during Girl Talk, the stage actually collapsed. (Thankfully no one was injured as far as we know). Halfway through Girl Talk’s set, a light rain began to fall. It was a welcome sight given the heat and sweaty bodies.
This was our favorite overheard pool party conversation: ‘is Girl Talk really rocking a Dell? Fuck that. This is bullshit.’
We also loved this tweet via @saveassistants: Girl Talk was awesome, but watching ppl arrested for climbing over port-a-potties to sneak into a free concert was better’
We hope you didn’t miss it. This was the biggest and best party of the summer.
Next week, Grizzly Bear and Beach House.
Photos include: DJs Gavin Royce + Stephen Pandolfi, Max Tundra , Wiz Khalifa , Girl Talk

Unfortunately, it looks like the Glos won’t be making it to Bikes in the Kitchen, as one of their members has messed up their hand. Should be all better in time to kick off their tour with Titus Andronicus at Monster Island next Wednesday (9/2). Along for the ride will be Chicago’s recent high school grads The Smith Westerns, who just came off tour with Girls– keep a lookout for a pretty stellar release from these guys on September 22nd.
From Matt Elkin of The So So Glos:
Surfer Blood are on tour from West Palm Beach, FL. Brian Wilson vibes galore! I’m throwing together this late show at Fire Proof for them on very short notice. The Nymphets are from Montreal but have relocated to Brooklyn for a stint. They play minute-and-a-half (perfect) punk songs. This is a great nightcap to the Bikes in the Kitchen festival happening all day off Myrtle-Broadway.
SURFER BLOOD + THE NYMPHETS @ Brooklyn Fire Proof
119 Ingraham St., Brooklyn <--- L to Morgan
ALL AGES can come to see the show, but the bartenders are strict about carding at the bar
11:00pm or thereabouts
and most importantly... FREE
Check this out to download some Smith Western tracks.

From Myopenbar.com:
Following the untimely (though quite reasonable and widely expected) death of the Shank, Bikes In The Kitchen went into hibernation for a while, only to come out with this summer’s biggest all-ages blowout, replete with actual ticket sales and a self-subsidized open bar.
Who’s playing? Everyone. No, really. TheDeathSet, Team Robespierre, NinjaSonik, Juiceboxxx, Best Fwends, Cerebral Ballzy, Snakes Say Hisss, Chinese Stars, So So Glos, Wild Yaks, Smarts and the usual surprise secret guests. Tickets here.
Starts at NOON and goes on all day @ the 979 Broadway Backyard, and it’s ALL AGES.
The After Party is around the corner at Beauty Bar.
Did we mention that this is one of the coolest spots to watch some live music? Right under the J train, in what feels like an abandoned lot… in true Todd P fashion. The Woodsist Festival took place here over 4th of July weekend, and it still sits on the top of the list of favorite days of this summer. It’s a good weekend for music y’all, make the best of it!!

Tonight at the Wreck Room (940 Flushing Ave.), friends come together to help out a friend. Gabe Allen is in the ICU in San Francisco after being hit by a car, and tonight at Wreck Room his friends are throwing a party to raise cash for his medical funds. DJs, bands, short films, raffles, dancing, beer, etc. If you’re supportive of bike culture or humanity as a whole, please consider stopping by.
From Nonsense:
A bike buddy and all around great guy, Gabe Allen (winner of the Most Excellent Bike award at Bike Fetish Day a few years back for his blue-and-yellow custom Maietta with the beer opener on the seat tube) was recently T-boned by a car while on vacation in SF. Since Thursday he’s been in the ICU out there. So, naturally, a bunch of his friends over here are organizing a party to raise cash to send to his parents and girlfriend to help defray their expenses while they wait for him to recover. With bands, DJs, bike short films, raffles, dancing, beer, fun, et cetera.
Starts at 7pm, donations accepted.
