Freewilliamsburg is pleased to team with My Social List and Aputumpu to bring you the Aputumpu Festival. The festival takes place from March 22-25 at Shea Stadium, Public Assembly, Cameo Gallery and (le) poisson rouge.
The Aputumpu Festival is a musical showcase featuring more than two-dozen rising bands comprising a cross-section of the burgeoning Brooklyn music scene. Much like the Amputumpu fruit – sweet on the inside, but rough on the outside – these bands exhibit raw, noisy, in-your-face performances, in contrast with the deep and often heartfelt sentiments expressed in their music. The bands’ rough, DIY aesthetic will be displayed over the course of four days, spread across some of the best venues in Williamsburg and Manhattan.
The full lineup includes: Japanther, Mux Mool, The So So Glos, The Suzan, Cerebral Ballzy, Bosco Del Rey, Snow Mine, Radical Dads, Fan tan, Ghost Mice, Diarrhea Planet, Osekre & The Lucky Bastards, Eula, Liquor Store, Not Blood Paint, Eula, The Press, Fan Tan, The Assembly Line, Hard Nips, U SAY USA, Night Manager, Celestial Shore, Blue Chip Village, Habibi, The Toothaches, Wishes and Thieves, Friend Roulette, TEEN and there a couple of bands that are still TBA. Aputumpu is a new archive that tracks and profiles rising bands in Brooklyn and beyond. The Aputumpu festival will celebrate the work of these rising bands who are on the verge of greatness.
