Anthony Delia, AKA Subaru Dude, Speaks (And Sings)
If you’ve spent any time in Williamsburg, you’ve undoubtedly seen—uh,heard—Anthony Delia, aka Subaru Dude. One of the neighborhood’s many iconic characters, he can be spotted almost daily driving along in his red Subaru and singing classics by Sinatra and countless others, generally to the delight of everyone who happens to be in earshot. As a FREEwilliamsburg exclusive, filmmaker Russel Fong tracked Anthony down and conducted a great interview with this local icon. Enjoy:
Anthony will be hosting his own Caraoke night starting tomorrow at Woods bar:
Co-hosted by Miss Lola Belle and W/ DJ Flim Flam of the Kings of
Karaoke. Thousands of songs.
The Woods features a stage, backyard and Taco truck.
CAR-AOKE EVERY TUESDAY @10pm @ The Woods.

Most of the residents in the neighborhood hate this guy (I’ve lived in Williamsburg for a decade). The first time he drives by might be somewhat endearing, but when he’s driving in circles, going by for the 20th time in a morning, every weekend day, for hours, it gets on one’s nerves. What’s worse is that he drives very slow, and stops at intersections for long pauses, looking out his window just hoping he gets some attention. He’s a loser and a waste of space. He’s also killing the planet by driving his car around for no reason for hours on end (and he definitely looks like he could use the exercise and walk). It’s too bad that FREEwilliamsburg chose to give this guy any attention. This is just as bad as giving LaDouceur his soap box; that guy is a menace I’ve seen threaten young women calling them whores. Note to Mr. Fong, filming boring people in your boring style results in boring films.
Yeesh…sounds like someone needs to get laid big time.
Grumps central.

Whore
I lived in the burg for over 7 years and seeing this dude AKA COOL RIDER come out on those sunny days always made me smile. BIG UP FONG!
And to the bitter cunt with the bad tude…
maybe you need to get your lazy hipster dumb ass up and enjoy the day! Perhaps try to smile you grumpy shit, or put some fucking headphones on…
Anthony is a great guy, & has every right to drive around singing in the neighborhood he grew up in. We need more unique characters like him in Williamsburg, and I appreciate this honest & endearing interview he gave.
Haters will be haters.

this guy sucks. I always want to throw shit at him when he drives by. He’s an attention slut and this coverage is only going to make him sing louder.
way to go.
Hahaha excellent! That guy always puts a big smile on my face for sure!
I imagine I was having a pretty standard issue day, one that I would never have remembered when I saw Anthony for the first time, driving down the street singing to his heart’s content. I think it’s the quirky little corners of life that make it so memorable. I’d like to compare Anthony’s singing act to salt, you couldn’t survive on it alone but it makes the rest of your food taste so much better.
Thanks for making this film, it was fun to watch and learn a bit about one of our neighborhood standards.
As far our grumpy little poster…I might as well respond to your comments because they seem to beg for it, right? I can certainly appreciate how Anthony would annoy a lot of people, but you don’t have to live in this world long to understand that there are so many inexcusably sad and mournful moments in it. I merely suggest reserving your more hateful tone for those moments that really deserve it, otherwise your opinion will likely be discarded.

I should be upset at this guy for; wasting gas, blocking traffic, or singing bad music badly. But ultimately I just pity him while secretly hoping he accidentally runs over that racist guy who’s always ranting on Bedford.
Waahhh! Oh LauRenn you horrid witch. This guy’s lived in this neighborhood (I’m on n6 for 7 years) his entire life. I’m sure he’s absolutely thrilled by your presence as well. This guy is annoying at worst and goofy at best. Oh sorry he is single-handedly KILLING THE PLANET. Holy shit. Please. Calm down. What sunshine do you bring to the party beside your sparkling personality and keen aesthetic insight?
Sorry I meant to address that to Russell Fong is Boring.
