Wonderful work. I enjoyed read your site a lot.

This is really a waste of time, you two. Give it a rest.

OH NOES!!!! NOT TEH GHEY!!!!11

Tooney, just STFU while you're still a reasonable amount behind. You fucking homophobe.

mns touch my pee pee.

Look, I'm tired of crack getting all the bad rap in the press. It's no more addictive than any other cocaine derivative, man. I mean, come on.

Guys, are we having one of those pissing contests about who's got the bigger blog?

I never read any of Hunter's books, and I didn't really connect w/ the movie, but I liked his ESPN column and he was an exciting character who broke the mold. And God knows we need some broken molds.

Tooney, I'll dial up the dial-up on Sunday and traffic your site. And mns, I hope you can find help for your addiction.

You sure got me, Tooney. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep. Oh, wait, no I'm not. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings sufficiently that you would have to go dig around my "low-traffic blog". Sometimes, you'll find, people on the Internet have differing opinions than you do. I hate to be the one to break it to you, dude, but somebody had to.

"Dandruff-flaked". That's particularly funny, which you would have known had you been on the Internet before the world wide web existed, but I'm sure you were busy getting your diaper changed back then.

How's WindowsXP and NYC RoadRunner cable working out for you, anyway?

mns, your ass-kicking geekiness, as evidenced here and on your low-traffic blog, bring me great amounts of manly joy. Hunter doesn't deserve even a modicum of attention from the great and influential mns. Waste not your enormous, dandruff-flaked talents on such a disreputable hack. Reserve them instead for bit-torrenting illegal copies of "Battlestar Galatica" and pleasuring yourself to screenshots of Michelle Malkin.

Hunter, you stood as a monument in the library of every White Boy who never had the balls to try drugs himself. Your average-at-best writing, your dedication to self-destruction, finally self-fufilled when your balls dropped enough for you to put that gun in your mouth; congratulations.

I'll smoke a crack hit tonight in memorium. Or, because I have a crack habit. Who really cares, ultimately? Not you, bitch, you're dead.

This just breaks my heart. This man has done amazing work and it is truly tragic to see him go. His "drug writer" title does not fit. He was an artist. A grand one, at that. May he rest peacefully.

Hunter S. Thompson was a huge early influence on my own writing. After acquainting myself with his work, I realized how many writers tried to immitate his style, and how few came anywhere near close to success. Thompson loved the power of language, and it showed. I never thought the maniac would die this way. Sad.

This is hearbreaking. Hell's Angels is a wonderful book. In his writing he always seemed to celebrate life. A shocking end to an inspiring man.

I really can't believe Hunter would kill himself.
He was an avid gun collector, perhaps the gun went off by mistake. And of course there's the CIA-cover up-he was framed for his own murder-thing, but that's so obvious.

I couldn't have been more shocked by his suicide. A sad ending to an erratic and important existence. Hunter in recent days was a bold voice of opposition to American imperialism. Thanks for making me laugh through the years.

- Alison Keedy

I think most people wrongly categorize Hunter as a "drug writer." In truth, his larger contribution was to the field of journalism. "Gonzo journalism" is fully his invention. His exaggerations, his humor, and his personalization of nonfiction events (such as the Nixon campaign) often provided more truth than straightforward, fully factual pieces written by his peers. From Hell's Angels to The Curse of Lono, Hunter has been an enormous influence on me. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
