LA Times doesn't know difference between an exaggeration and a lie
The LA Times says Bush "exaggerated." We say he lied. Decide for yourself: [From the same LA Times story]
1. "[An Iraqi defector code-named Curveball] was the chief source of inaccurate prewar U.S. accusations that Baghdad had biological weapons"2. "Curveball never claimed to produce germ weapons and never saw anyone else do so."
3. "Curveball's German handlers for the last six years said his information was often vague, mostly secondhand and impossible to confirm. 'This was not substantial evidence,' said a senior German intelligence official... 'We made clear we could not verify the things he said... He [Curveball] is not a stable, psychologically stable guy.'"
4. "The White House... ignored evidence gathered by United Nations weapons inspectors shortly before the war that disproved Curveball's account... [and] punished in-house critics who provided proof that he had lied"
Forget Plamegate. Forget Clinton's blow job. Neither caused 1500 US deaths or enabled the use of chemical weapons against civilians. Can we hurry up and fire this pig fucker from Texas?

I'm gonna drop one more Quotable Quote before reporting to the electro-shock room:

Al Franken not "annoying" and "self-righteous"!?? Give me a break. He is THE portrait of the modern "liberal". I use quotes around the word liberal because for all their talk about being liberals, they certainly act like elitist republicans in their day to day lives. I highly suggest you do some research on some of the so-called "liberals" and "radicals" in this country. I think you will find they are not what they claim to be. It's their right to be elitist, pompous, snobs....but at least be fucking honest about it.
I find, from personal experience, that if you scratch a "liberal" you will find a Stalinist lurking underneath. Am I saying that YOU are that? No. So don't take it personally. BUt some people out there are not as "liberal" as they claim to be. They are not as "tolerant" as they claim to be.
You can think what you like. YOu can call me self-righteous, or whatever. But I imagine that you are immune from that charge, huh? I mean, are those who don't agree with you being self-righteous? Is that the liberal position to differing opinion?

i don't know why i'm bothering with you two. i mean, honestly, "suck a tailpipe, asswipe"? you can't even muster a convincing insult, arty (and you're obviously emotionally unstable).
sergio: i'm interested in "winning" insofar as it keeps dangerous people like bush out of the white house and pentagon. does that make me a hypocrite? maybe. but look at what we've got now. is that better? do you think al gore would've launched this war in iraq? of course not. (and, for the record, al franken is much more thoughtful than you are, he's just has a sense of humor and is not as annoyingly self-righteous)
arty: i really don't know what to say to you and your third-grade insults. if you're not involved with the website, what's your beef? do you honestly think that calling someone a "pig fucker" is funny, or incisive political commentary? so you have a lot of nyu interns that are stupid. i'm not surprised in the least. but plenty of more intelligent people than yourself have gone there. if you're so smart and constitutionally-versed why are you wasting your time with this "dicknail"? your pompous (and unwarranted) declarations of superiority indicate to me someone who is deeply insecure. maybe see a shrink? just a thought...

Berg: Al Franken is an idiot. Period. He is NOT as intelligent as you think he is. He's MAYBE an adequate comedian, but overall, he's a parrot with no ideas of his own and...a fucking hypocrite. Look into it. You might want to cry. And another thing: Nader may be boring, stiff, whatever, but it's what he has to say that matters, not how he says it. Franken has nothing to say that isn't merely sloganeering or parroting the party line. If AL Franken is considered a serious political commentator in this country, it's no wonder why we're in the state we're in. A fucking limousine liberal whose only out for himself. Fuck Al Franken. Oh, and you're welcome for the lecture. By the way, after campaigning for Nader in 2000, did you jump ship and vote for Gore like most "dedicated" Nader voters did? Did you really believe in him or were you just interested in "winning"? Curious.
Arty: I love that quote.

dicknail of the burg:
1. Kill yourself
2. Not my website. Just a commentator, like yerself.
3. You "happen to write for the Village Voice"? Seriously, suck a tailpipe, asswipe.
4. I "happen" to be in charge of a bunch of NYU interns here at my job. Useless little over-priviledged fuckbags, the lot of 'em. After the MTA institued random searches on the subway I had to explain to six college kids what the Fourth Amendment was, and what it meant. At least a few of them know to take a dive off a tall building once in a while, ridding us of their vile presence.

actually, i'm an nyu dropout who also happens to write for the village voice. that e-mail doesn't work anymore (try it, it'll bounce back at you), it's just something i use when i'm filling out forms on junk websites... obviously i wouldn't provide my real address. and anyway, as much as i disdain nyu's presence in this fair city, i don't think you can automatically assume that anyone who goes there is stupid (although, granted, a large percentage is).
the bottom line is that your response attacks my e-mail address because you have nothing to say on the issue of your unimaginative drivel.
and sergio, thanks for the lecture but i don't think it's fair to call al franken an idiot. he happens to be very intelligent and very funny. i'll take that combination over nader's lethally boring preachiness any day of the week (and i should know, i campaigned for him in 2000).
all in all, maybe i came off a little too harsh, arty, but the point remains. i have never learned a thing from your website, nor has it ever made me crack a smile (unless you were stealing someone else's joke). sorry.

"billy of the burg"?? And you've got an nyu email address??? And you want OTHER people to be smart or funny?
Fuck you.
You're either a college kid, and therefor a waste of time to talk to (yeah, that's right), OR you're an NYU grad who hasn't gotten around to getting a grown-up email address.

Billy of the Burg: This is what passed for political discourse in America these days. Why does this surprise you? We live in a society where Michael Moore and Al Franken (as well as Ann Coulter and Michael Savage) are considered the "voices" of political commentary. This should tell you enough. Sort of sad when you think about it. On the left, of which my sympathies lie, it doesn't make me feel good that Michael Moore and/or Al Franken are considered "spokesmen". It's embarrassing and shameful since both are idiotic hypocrites who do not live what they preach.
But this sort of "discourse" comes from both the left and the right, mainly because no one has any ideas to speak of and exist just to criticize, character assasinate and most importantly, make lots of money by appealling to the most base emotions in people.
Don't be so surprised. Looking for political commentary with some depth? Try Eduardo Galeano, Ralph Nader, Cornell West...and even Howard Zinn, though I don't particularly like or trust him either. But at least he speaks of historical facts and states his case without the "gotcha" element.
Posted by: Sergio | November 21, 2005 06:37 AM
it's too bad that i have to read the crap that you idiots put forward as political commentary when i just want to find a take-out menu. i mean, i hate bush as much as the next new yorker but calling him a "pig fucker"? that's not even slightly amusing. be smart or funny, please... right now, you're neither.

Unfortunately, we're probably stuck with him for the remainder of his term. I do want to say though, throughout all of this shit the past 4-5 years, it seems to me that everyone is completely full of shit. The fact that the powers that be lie should come as no surprise to anyone. Republicans and Democrats alike. Yet the American people continue to vote for either party---most of the time the same candidates---over and over again, knowing full well that they lie, cheat, steal and care about nothing but their own positions of power and other self-interests.
This won't change unless the American public as a whole demands change and makes a concentrated effort do make change happen. I don't see this happening at all in the forseeable future. The American public is partly to blame for all this madness as well. It's a hard pill to swallow, but it's true.
The American voters (meaning those who even bother most of the time) are just as culpable for the corruption of their so-called "leaders" or "representatives". They know these guys are full of shit and over the course of my life time, many of the same people are still hanging around congress. It isn't ONLY the president. It's the legislators as well and they are put there by the American people. They don't just assume power.
I don't see any change happening until the hypocrisy disappears---on BOTH the left and the right. The right shows their hypocrites by touting "family values" and then goes off and fucks the maid or secretary or whatever. The left touts their "socially conscious" values yet live like Republicans with their tax shelters and do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do attitude.
This is why for me, personally, I don't bother voting or supporting either party. I haven't in many years. There are a lot of skeletons in America's closet. But there are only two parties that seem to ever be in power---and the American people put them there.
All of it really makes you wonder whether or not these crooks in power are actually betraying the public trust or is it that they are merely a reflection of the public. Something to think about...
