I'm kind of an old fart and I seem to recall self mutilation being around when I was a teenager in the mid-late seventies. Amazingly I, lacking any training as a shrink or talking head, am pretty sure that teen/post teen angst and accompanying behavior even existed before I was a teenager-gosh, well before there was emo! What a pathetic excuse for a news show. That shrink should be ashamed of herself-she knows very well that that cutting behavior is nothing new or recent and what is dangerous is giving the incorrect impression that it is culture-driven.
This has to be the wackiest news report I've ever seen in my life. Thank god we live in NYC, where no one would overblow this shit. Oh, and emos are totally looked down on. That's a big plus.
