it's not that there is no good music, nipster, it's the scene that's no good. all the good venues (all one of them) are dying, promoters are elitist, bars are trying to get as many different sorts of bands in as they can so they can get a whole crowd in drunk and out 5 times a night. this is a huge city, there should really be more than 4 or 5 places to have a good not huge bands show.

More than the show, I love the comments on this post. You've got the hipster annoyed with "faux hipsters" (the first time I've heard a hipster proud to be called a hipster), some dude angry because the show is soooooo mainstream, and another who doesn't think there's any good music in the area! Pop is really eating itself - just like Flight of the Conchords!

hah, i dont wear cardigans, nor do i have buddy holly style glasses. besides, being from israel, i cant say we have such things that you'd call hipsters in israel. so dont stereotype me fucktard. stop worrying about pointless things and quit pretending youre part of some supposed backlash against some artifical counterculture. youre too angry. much love & kol tov.

wow anonymous, why all the anger? i didn't say they should die or something. it's annoying, when you have a van, (that i only have so my real band can play real music in places other than this shitty-for-music town) and all your street parking is taken up for 3 nights by a movie set that never even materializes. i like tv too, but i don't see why i should be severely inconvenienced (and this neighborhood has alternate side of the street rules 4 days a week) so that some faux-hipster comedian musicians can try to make some money for HBO.
maybe they are funny. i've only seen this clip so it's all i was commenting on. because i don't have HBO. but this clip doesn't make me want to seek it out.

also, "my fratboy coors-pounding friends"? c'mon. just cuz you've got a shitty vintage cardigan and some buddy holly glasses doesn't mean you're not just a "fratboy coors-pounding" idiot dressed up like a bigger idiot.

first off, only losers comment on blogs.
also, they are totally funny. the music parodies are often better than the style/reference of music they are clowning.
most people i know fucking love this show. and who gives a shit you couldn't park your volvo with a bard bumper sticker on bedford. nice mini protest you damn holier than thou jackass.

i hadn't seen it. i didn't think the clip was so interesting, except for eugene mirman who is great in general, if not in this clip (i thought he was great in the clip, but i'm biased).
maybe williamsburgers don't like the show because they kept filming around here and keeping people from being able to park. i know that's why i made no effort to see it. they blocked the streets for 3 days with their don't park signs and not once did they actually come by and film (maybe because it kept pouring).
it seems pretty boring.

my mom and dad and aunt think its to die for. my uncle doesnt.

yeh actually my fratboy coors-pounding friends from highschool love the show, and claim that i am a clone of jemaine, which is pretty much true, considering that i look like a 19 y.o. version of him, and dress exactly like him (black-plastic-framed glasses and hairstyle too).

I don't watch much TV but, I just can't stop watching this show. They are hilarious, satirical, lyrical motha flippin'geniuses!

What are you talking about? You're claiming to be the "only ones" who appreciate a show on HBO? It's not exactly 'underground."
