Mexican 'Anti-Emos' Hate Skinny Jeans & Bright Eyes

antiemo2wf7.jpg

From Time via Buzzfeed

The trio of long-haired teenagers grasped the plaza wall to shield their bodies as hundreds of youths kicked and punched them while filming the beating on cell phone cameras. "Kill the emos," shouted the assailants, who had organized over the Internet to launch the attack in Mexico's central city of Queretaro. After police eventually steamed in and made arrests, the bloody victims lay sobbing on the concrete waiting for ambulances while the mob ran through the nearby streets laughing and cheering... more here

Ok this events had nothing to do with emo's really. I mean...there's a lot of stuff what makes mexican people feel angry (bad goverment, poor social conditions, inadecuate education, terrible economics, shity regional music, etc) so the emo's bashing was some sort of a joke that gone bad. What's really scary here is the media reaction to all of this! They are stereotyping some parts of the mexican youth with stupid cliches and selling crappy news to cover really important issues like the oil! (kinda joking here but...) I admit that there are some anti emo feelings but its not like a big movement or anything like skinheads in europe, what happens here its that mexican people can loose control very easy and tend to focus their anger against what's vulnerable. In conclusion there's more behind those fights and for sure its not about being an emo...well maybe just for a couple of people who encourage the hatred, but I think it clearly represents the social issues that makes this country a divided one.
