Sixpoint Brews an Obama Beer
Brooklyn's own Sixpoint Brewery is now brewing an Obama beer. Called the Hop Obama, the ale supposedly represents Obama in a number of ways...from its Scottish yeast to his hint of spiciness. Or, as Sixpoint explains, it reminds them of Obama's grassroots campaign, in that it "positively blossoms each and every day". The ale has 5.2% alcohol by volume, and is only available in New York and Massachusetts. But, if it's got Obama juice in it, it's just gotta be delicious, right? From Sixpoint's website:
In keeping with the Illinois senator's unifying theme, the Hop Obama is an entirely unique ale that doesn't adhere to traditional style guidelines....Fused from an incredibly diverse background, the flavors are individually unique by gaining their solidarity from their invisibility. Although we do not intend this beer to be a direct Sixpoint endorsement of Obama, we believe the delicious and refreshing quality it represents reminds us of the Senator's successful grassroots campaign that positively blossoms each and every day.
Yum! I'm going to go hunt down a six pack...
update: ok its not the newest news but hot damn! its still awesome!

And good luck finding that six pack... Sixpoint is draft-only. I think they have it on tap at Pacific Standard in Park Slope.
