Phish Recording in Brooklyn?!

holyshitphish.jpg

So holy shit Gothamist has a photo that very clearly shows Mike Gordon, Fishman, Page's bald spot and Trey recording in a studio - rumored to be Park Slope's Trout Recording! Is this the real deal? Are Phish really recording an album? If so, this means there'll be a summer/fall tour to support it! Which means they'll be playing at least three nights at The Garden, or maybe a weekend run in Coney! And since the Hampton show ticket disaster sucked so many balls, here's hoping a NYC/Brooklyn run will have enough dates to make sure I get a freaking ticket.

Gothamist did a little investigating and got a frank denial from a Trout studio rep, but they call bullshit and I have to agree. Here's what they posted and which is giving me anxiety right now:

A little investigating led us to Trout Recording in Park Slope, where some of the band members have recorded in the past. A call to the studios this morning was fielded by Bryce Goggin, who told us, "There is not a band called Phish in my studio at this time." Our secret decoder ring unscrambled this lexical puzzle and told us that it's all but confirmed: Phish is in Park Slope either rehearsing or recording or both! Secret show at Union Hall all but confirmed!

Save the snark motherf*ckers, I grew up a hippie. Everyone loves a friend who loves Phish.

UPDATE: Phish is swimming all over the place. That photo's from Manhattan...compare it to this. Pay attention to the walls. The word is they were there "as recently as "the beginning of this week".

Hey Ted Bailey- FYI: The band no longer uses "The Barn" for anything really...Trey had it converted to an artist's studio (part of the Seven Below Arts Initiative). Brooklyn & the general NYC area has been the band's HQ now for quite some time.

Learn about it at http://www.trey.com/barn/

....."The Barn is now home to the Seven Below Arts Intiative. Following Trey's sold-out shows at New York City's Webster Hall in October 2006 (which benefitted the initiative), The Barn was transformed from a commercial recording facility into a studio environment providing accommodations and work space for artists participating in the Seven Below residency program."

all the haters of the phish peace the fuck out. more room for us salt lake crew to dance, which by the way is the illest crew out there. come out west please and thanks phour all the great times

the phish is less stupid than you

All I have to say is thank you to the musical gods for even letting us grateful as hell phans entertain the idea of having more beautiful music, live or studio recordings, to look forward to coming out this year. Hell yes!!!!

nothin but love for you all...and yes Phish is incredibly talented in many ways...perhaps, sometimes its too much for an individuals pyche to integrate Phish's experience, and thus fear and rejection of a beautiful thing..turn on the love faucet above your head, dont worry bout it, let art speak for itself. everyone's got a right to their vibration, love the differences, its what keeps us all in motion. peace yall! Can't wait to dance with everyone again...

to Frank's posting on 12/3:
I love when an individual such as yourself bashes Phish in the way you do. I am far from a hippie, but I study music, and any person who knows music knows that Phish is simply where it's at. I beg you to name one single band that can do what they do. I would recommend that you stop listening to Nickelback (as well as all the other bands that you listen to that have NO talent... 4 chords to a song, no improvisation?? WOW!!); I'm sure the guys you listen to can write symphonies, right buddy? I feel bad for you, get a clue Franky boy

Of coures they'll prolly be touring next summer. Hope to see you up in Limestone!

Alright one matter at a time:

Falling asleep at a Phish concert not happening, unless you were drugged out. It is thee most upbeat concert you could ever go to, if you can fall asleep there than i am very impressed.

Okay so you don't like PHISH, than move on get over it, listen to the Flaming Lips , I guess. However stop wasting your time and ours on your negative thoughts towards them. You must not have anything to do and be a dead beat yourself if your complaining about them. Because if you saw them and found out you really didn't like them , BUDDY THAT WAS FOUR + YEARS ago you saw them. so get over it! They might not be for be for everyone.

Next matter yeah the boys should be back in the barn. But like people said least their together, thats what counts. Im not sure if the Barn is still housing the artist, I think thats a summer thing.

LOVE LIVE LISTEN PHISH.

wow, fuk all of u. the Flaming Lips are owning phish right now. trey should stop being so serious and start writing some mind boggling stuff again....it's their only hope

Glad to see that they are preparing for their upcoming shows. Post-hiatus Phish has reeked of rusty chops (especially Trey), but a solid few months of practicing together will certainly help. A new album would be cool too, but no one is asking for "Undermind II".

who cares what they are doing, as long as they are doing something together. who would have thought a year ago that they would be coming back at all? i was hoping they would, but at the same time, thought they were done for good too. rehearse, record a new album, just as long as they hit the rd, better than ever.

Frank, your a fucking hipocritical moronic fucking stupid idiot. I'm so sorry that you think all bands should barely know how to play their instuments and somehow end up famous. Do you have any idea how much talent it takes for a jam band to "jam". Obviously you have no sense of musical appreciation whatesoever. Fuck you and fuck you for hating.

F%$k Phish and F%$k you for liking their music!!! You all suck for thinking they write good music. I have never heard a song that didn't cheese me the f*&k out or bore me to sleep. I have been unfortunate to have a friend take me to a concert at her expense just to try to show me how great they are and I almost fell asleep several times. Stop doing so many drugs and being such a worthless hippie. Realize jam bands are bad bands.

who really knows. only the people involved. phish has the reputation and credits for keeping good secrets, this is no different. everyone has an opinion and mine is they need to start playing bigger venues if there is to be a tour this fall.

The Barn is currently being used as an artists home...And being that most of them have apartments in NYC this isnt that far off.

The barn is no longer a recording studio or practice area. It's now an art studio for visual artists from the burlington area. So they could be using this studio for rehearsal, or a new album or both!

Trey's barn has been used for recording in the past as well. Don't know why they wouldn't head up there to pratice and record. Its a beautiful spot.

Ah Phish, reminds of prep school. All ANYONE did was listen to Phish and wear Phish hats. Good to know they're still kickin..

trust me ralph, i love phish more than you know.

and no, they aren't rehearsing in a studio in manhattan/brooklyn.

that's what trey's barn is for.

A. If you hate on Phish, you likely haven't bothered to actually listen to their live performances. They aren't just hippy-dippy crap, they are frickin mind-bendingly good, dark psychedelic rockers.

B. They aren't recording - they're just rehearsing for the upcoming shows. They haven't played together in quite a while, so they need to get back into form.
