Hipsters Repaint Bike Lanes

But Baruch Herzfeld, who has tried to bridge the gap between hipsters and Hasids with a bike-rental program, said safety is not the issue so much as xenophobia.

"They don't want the hipsters in their neighborhood," he said. "It's like in Howard Beach back in the day when they didn't want black people in the neighborhood."

In case you haven't been following the story, you can find out more here.

Hipsters are a bunch of pretentious jack asses. They are the product of "helicopter parenting" and phoney "starving artist" types who are really rich punks with trust funds. They are also all sissies who would undoubtedly back down from any agressive confrontation with the imbedded neighborhood low lifes.

The issue is plain safety. It's not just hipsters that bike. Many people, immigrant workers, children, families, etc, etc, etc. Bike every day as a form of transportation. changing a bike lane is not enough. People should be able (as are drivers) to use all possible avenues in the safest way possible. Bike lanes are the MINIMUM measure to keep cyclists, of any kind, safe from motor vehicles.

And where is the reporting on who got the city to make Kent Avenue one way going north. And what happened to the B61 stop in front of Central Market? Who is running my neighborhood? I clearly have no say in these decisions.

Everytime I bike through that neighborhood I am in constant fear of being doored, run over or pushed into oncoming traffic because of the Hasid pedestrian and drivers.

Hipsters have tolerated too much oppression in this generation, and this is just the most recent manifestation of an epidemic that is ingrained in our society.

The Hasids are a bunch of hypocrites! These guys make so much loot off of the gentrifying of North and South Williamsburg, and now they want their babka and they want to eat it too? That's BS. Live in the now, Hasids. Xenophobia will NOT be tolerated. If you don't like it, move somewhere else.

Thanks to the bikers and Hasids there is more traffic congestion in the neighborhood than ever. (Just wait until all the new units are filled!) Perhaps if both groups cared more about the neighborhood, less people would be chocking on truck exhaust. And, while we're on it, now that there is a fancy 2-way bike lane on Kent, is anyone going to use it?
