Ticket Giveaway: Delorean at Glasslands

España's Delorean have been gently rocking our socks off since the Ayrton Senna EP which, considering the band formed back in 2000, seems a little off. Almost a decade of tweaking details, slightly altering the band's lineup, and what sonically translates to frolicking along a golden hour beach, the band's pinnacle release is here-- Subiza, out in the U.S. on True Panther this coming Tuesday.

If you haven't been listening to this coastal four-piece, let us introduce you to your summer go-to album. Unfortunately for most of you, Delorean's New York shows (starting tonight at Piano's) are SOLD OUT. But for one lucky reader, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Just head on over to our Facebook page for your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Delorean, along with Restless People and MillionYoung at Glasslands this Saturday.

Check out the video for "Stay Close" after the jump...

Giveaway: The Futureheads on Vinyl: The Chaos

Yesterday, while you were recovering from one too many PBRs and a grilled food coma, our catchy post-punk faves The Futureheads released The Chaos on Dovecote Records. The album, their fourth since 2004's self-titled debut, nods to riotous roots like that infamous night at Rothko. If you're over synths, sleepy melodies, and noise pop (or you're just missing the NYC of 'yore)... this is a record for you.

And, of course, here at FREEwilly we're always giving up the goods... so one lucky reader will be awarded with The Chaos on vinyl... just by heading over to our Facebook page and commenting on the contest thread with your favorite memory from when the Lower East Side was still kind of cool.

And be sure to check out The Futureheads this Tuesday at Bowery Ballroom with The Like and The Static Jacks.

Georgia's Twin Tigers are in town and ready to share their haze-infused indie rock with the lovely folks of Williamsburg tonight at Cameo Gallery in the back of N. 6th's Lovin' Cup. Of course, FREEwilly has a pair of tickets for one super lucky reader!

Who knows, maybe kisses in the rain are in your near future. Right-click to download Twin Tigers' newest track, "Everyday", here to set the mood for the memories of your next ex-gf/bf.

If tonight's your weekly sit-on-the-couch-with-your-hand-down-your-pants night, then head out to Pianos tomorrow night for Twin Tigers encore NYC presentation. And be sure to check out the video for "Red Fox Run" after the jump...

Ticket Giveaway: Adam Green at the Bowery

After kicking off Teen Tech, his exhibition at Morrison Hotel Gallery on the Bowery last night, Adam Green will be playing two shows at Bowery Ballroom tonight and Saturday-- and we've got a pair of tickets for one lucky reader. Adam Green is a quintessential New Yorker, "eccentric, but perfect" according to legendary rock 'n roll photog Mick Rock (who I had the extreme honor of chatting up last night).... Also spotted at the event were Cory Kennedy, Becka Diamond, Macaulay Culkin, and Michael Grubbs of Wakey!Wakey!, as well as a slew of swanky downtowners.

For your chance to see Adam Green tomorrow night, head on over to our Facebook page and tell us why you're a great New Yorker too! Or just hit up @freedubya over on Twitter with this:

I love Adam Green, almost as much as I love @freedubya

Ticket Giveaway: Glass Ghost w/ Kaki King at MHoW

Glass Ghost might be the most reflective band name I've heard in a while. Their terribly fragile sound floats somewhat eerily over subtle keyboards and drum beats-- a moving falsetto that played repeatedly during my hazy winter, but which also translates to sunshine times and naps in the park with great fluidity.

If you haven't had a chance to see these guys live, today is your lucky day because FREEwilly has got you covered... well, one lucky reader anyway. If you want to win a pair of tickets to see Glass Ghost along with Brooklyn's venerable Kaki King at Music Hall on 4/15, all you've gotta do is RT this over on Twitter, or comment on the contest thread on our Facebook page. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy, no?

Check out the video for Glass Ghost's "Like A Diamond" after the jump...

Ticket Giveaway: Ted Leo & the Pharmacists

Again, the folks at The L Mag got it just right. Maybe from now on, I'll just copy and paste all of their opinions:

For the past few years, we had been of the opinion that Ted Leo and his Pharmacists had hit something of a low point in their career: Nothing had changed, exactly, and the songs they were writing weren't bad; it just seemed like something was missing. On the brand new album, The Brutalist Bricks, though, whatever it was that was missing is back. It's an immensely catchy record that you'll want to play pretty much every time you fire up the grill this summer.

We tested this theory on a rooftop last night, and it seems to be true. So if you wanna kick off the early summer weather with Mr. Leo, just head on over to our Facebook page for a chance to win a pair of tickets to tomorrow night's show at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza.

Need some more convincing? Here's a video of Ted Leo & the Pharmacists covering Tears for Fears (once you get past all the Starbucks product placement, it's pretty rad):

Giveaway: Midlake's The Courage of Others

From The L Magazine:

Pitchfork destroyed the new Midlake record, The Courage of Others, with a shockingly low 3.6, and we find ourselves hoping, more than ever, that people don't take their word as gospel. It's a beautiful record, clearly inspired by British folk music, and as engrossing as any we've heard all year.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves! That's why we have two copies of Midlake's newest album for two lucky readers... one vinyl and one CD. Just head over to our Facebook page and comment on the contest thread, and The Courage of Others can be all yours. Don't forget to specify why records are awesome, or why you still own a CD player...

And be sure to check out Midlake tonight at the Bowery Ballroom with John Grant!

Giveaway: Sade's "Soldier of Love" on Vinyl

Since Sade first emerged on the scene as Best New Artist in 1986, she's been giving us music to, well, make out to. And although each album sounds pretty much the same, we're not mad-- mostly because Sade just keeps getting hotter.

Since we're all about promoting all things that may help you get laid (be sure to be safe, kids), one lucky FREEwilly reader will score a copy of Sade's "Soldier of Love" on vinyl-- because let's face it, if you have a record player you're half way there already.

Head on over to our Twitter page and RT this, or comment on the contest thread over on Facebook. Good luck!

This is what happens when you quit your corporate job.

It seems there are a lot of people throwing caution to the wind and quitting their jobs, even with the still tenuous economical situation. My cousin Sam quit her cushy job and is now a full time artist and designer. And her first project involves your ass (hopefully).

Rules and details are here. 100 bucks and bragging rights to show off what your momma gave you? Not bad.

Ticket Giveaway: Grand Archives Tonight AND Tomorrow

grandarchivesss.jpgSeattle's Grand Archives put out their newest, Keep In Mind Frankenstein, last month after grappling with a serious case of writer's block in the studio, namely on standout track "Oslo Novelist". But once the music was laid down, the words just fell into place, and thank goodness. This orchestral and slightly weepy (read: Pacific Northwest) version of a classic southern saloon resonance, is sure to warm your bones.

Since it's starting to get chilly, we'd like to think we're in the business of making our readers happy-- so we've got two pairs of tickets to see Grand Archives, tonight at Le Poisson Rouge and tomorrow night at Southpaw. Holler at us on twitter with this message:

Album Giveaway: tUnE-yArDs Limited Screen Printed Edition of BiRd-BrAiNs

Debut album BiRd-BrAiNs, out August 18th on 4AD, is the singular musical project of New England native Merrill Garbus, a.k.a tUnE-yArDs. Merril's ukulele brings forth a timid quality that can only be captured by the word endearing. In a Kimya Dawson-esque language, her somewhat awkward femininity blazes forward with a lonesome confidence.

The work is best described by Garbus herself as “a patchwork of sound snippets, of history in a present tense. It is a composer’s commitment to the preservation of stories, however small and unassuming.”-- self recorded on a handheld digital voice recorder and produced on free mixing software, with echoing drum loops and siren vocals.

We've got a copy of this Limited Edition Screen Printed DIY gem for TWO LUCKY READERS! Simply comment on the tUnE-yArDs thread on our Facebook page and you can become just as obsessed as I have...

Recently coming off tour with sound pioneers Micachu & The Shapes, tUnE-yArDs will be making a pit stop at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sept 5th with troubadour Phosphorescent, before hitting up the UK with the lovely Dirty Projectors.

Ticket Giveaway: Foreign Born @ Bell House

foreign born.jpg

Foreign Born, with vocals often compared to young Bono's range, cranked out a collection of sleepy sunshine melodies shimmering with California summer fun on their newest LP, Person To Person, released late last month. "Winter Games", the first single of the band's sophmore full-length, with it's clap along pop sound and cloudy distortion, is perfect for a drive along the coast. Those of us stuck riding the subway here in the city that never sleeps, don't worry-- this album doubles as a drunken sunset soundtrack. These are hot weather anthems just the way we like 'em, with visions of busted fire hydrants and beach-geared babes on bicycles.

Well, if you're in the mood to daydream, we've got a pair of tickets to see these LA swoonsters with The Veils on August 3rd @ Bell House... Excited!? Well, all you've gotta do is follow us on Twitter and RT this post.
