Recalling 1993: Manhattan Pay Phones Transformed Into Time Capsules

Sadly no Brooklyn phones were included in this project, but we still think this is pretty cool: Via The Awl:

In association with the exhibition at the New Museum, they’ve installed 5000 New York City pay phones with recorded messages about what was happening around you in 1993. Find a phone, call (855) FOR-1993, and suddenly Robin Byrd and James St. James (girrrlll!) are telling you about the good times.

Dos Toros – Mission-Style Burrito Joint Opening In Williamsburg Next Month

From Gothamist:

burrito chainlet Dos Toros Tacqueria will be opening an outpost on Bedford Ave next month. The company is run by San Francisco native and former Third Eye Blind bassist Leo Kremer and his brother Oliver; they’ve got three other locations in Manhattan, and, of course, they specialize in serving locally-sourced sustainable and organic burritos, tacos and quesadillas… The new joint will be located at 189 Bedford Avenue, in place of Turkish joint Saksura, which shuttered last year. In addition to cheap tacos and the like, they’ll also be offering a selection of Mexican beer, and since Brooklyn’s its own animal, a spokeswoman for Dos Toros tells us they hope to serve some local beer as well.

Hopefully his food is better than his horrible music. Check out the menu at www.dostoros.com

Kurt Vile’s Home Movie CD Teaser

Is it just us or is it weird to put your kid in your music video? She’s cute, but this feels like a home movie. Still, we’re excited to hear Vile’s new record.

Name This Dead Stuffed Fox And Win $500 Worth Of Booze At The Woods

Sounds like a good deal to us!

Via Brokelyn

Williamsburg’s The Woods just got a new, possibly stuffed, possibly alive, fox, and they’re giving away a $500 bar tab to the person who can give it the best name. However, there’s a catch: you can only drink that $500 away during their weekday happy hours from 4-10. And you have less than a month to get through your tab…

But, if you feel like you’ve got the liver of a god, then follow them on Twitter and tweet your fox names to them using #NameTheFox by April 20th. If they choose one of yours, you win the one-month bender. Congrats?

More information about The Woods here.
