Aching for a little borough adventuring on this pretty, crisp winter day? Then head to Queens tonight where the Sunnyside CSA is screening the documentary, American Meat. The film surveys the current state of the US meat industry, interviewing farmers across the country who have changed their life to start grass-based farms and find tangible solutions to change agriculture in America. After the film, join a panel discussion with co-owner of the restaurant Bare-Burger, the head butcher/co-owner of Meat hook and a member of the film’s production team.

48NYC: Page to stage in 24 Hours – a self-described chaotic community event. Each night will feature a line up of seven new one-act plays written, designed and rehearsed only hours before showtime.

Organizers for The Mac-Off are looking for connoisseurs skilled at that delicate art of combining pasta and the best dairy product ever for their annual mac and cheese competition. So if you have the expertise in creating the cheesy dish – beyond adding water to the Kraft kind and shaking some bacon bits into the mix (um. yeah. me.) – then show ‘em what you got. This Saturday, creatives will light up the Greenpoint waterfront.
Bring to Light 2011 is the free nighttime public art festival showcasing site-specific installations of light, sound, performance and projection art for the purpose of re-imagining public space and civic life. The event simultaneously takes place with Nuit Blanche – the awesome annual worldwide arts festival where museums, galleries and other cultural institutions open their doors to the public free of charge and all night long.
