I was invited by the gentlemen of Quiet Loudly to come check out their set over at Shea Stadium this Friday. I got there a little late. I believe I may have missed the first band. Sorry Libel, don’t worry I’ll catch up to you in the near future I promise. The first band I saw was Maquina Supervium. From the beginning I got gut punched by Nikkie fucking killing it on the drums. Me and Max(Lead singer of Quiet Loudly) didn’t even say anything to eachother. It was one of those moments where you make eye contact and just nod your head in approval like, “hell yea they’re fucking shit up!” The entire night was packed with beautiful music. So pretty. A night filled with roses and shit to the ears. I really enjoyed them. Check this clip out I shot. Rad stuff. Enjoy!
I went over to Shea Stadium for the first time on Friday. I really enjoyed it. I’d love to own something along the lines of Shea. It’s like a big loft with a huge stage and a bunch of rooms. Reminds me of the Live at the Loft show. My buddies from Quiet Loudly invited me over for an intimate set. I’m use to seeing them on some huge stage with a bunch of people and I can barely move to capture anything. This place was big enough that a decent amount of people could relax in comfort and I could have some fun shooting. This clip is long overdue. Glad I finally got a really cool one of you dudes. Enjoy!
I had a little time to run through some of my footage lastnight and found a bunch of stuff I had pending. Forgot all about this! Meyhem Lauren and Despot came out and killed it! Yo Converse, you “motha fluffers” are geniuses. Enjoy!
Philadelphia wanted to send Williamsburg some love. This is the newest video from Blayer Pointdujour & Rockers Galore. He’ll be playing some blaqbook showcases in Brooklyn in the near future so keep those eyes/ears peeled. In the meantime lets get acquainted with their tunes. Enjoy!
This is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard of the Oxymorrons. They were definitely one of my favorite acts of the whole fest. I’m kind of confused why I never came across them because they’re real dope. They had the crowd going crazy. I’m going to try to get my hands on some tracks. Until then I’ll just watch this on repeat. Enjoy!
Caught a quick clip of Reggie Watts during my Afropunk Festival adventures. He pretty much beat boxes, records, then loops it. Then sings, records, loops it. He continues the process until he has a fresh beat. Then he raps over top of it. I need some rest and relaxation in the field after seeing a few sets before this. So while we were on the lawn doing our hippy thing I captured this. I’m pretty far away from the stage so the quality isn’t the greatest but it’s enough for you to embrace the vibe. Enjoy!
I swung by Union Pool recently to catch The Yes Way’s set. I got there early and got the pleasure of catching a few songs of The Midnight Hollow. These guys are pretty good. I didn’t catch the whole set but from what I heard I enjoyed them. If you like what you hear free to check out more of their music at soundcloud.com/themidnighthollow. Enjoy!
I swung by Union Pool recently to catch The Yes Way’s set. It’s been since Northside Festival last year since I’ve seen them perform. Immediately I noticed 3 new faces. But only the bassist and the dude on the keyboard were new band members. Their drummer grew some manly facial hair so I didn’t recognize him until after our hand shake. My apologies Jesse. I think the keyboard adds just a perfect pinch of depth to the band. As expected, like always, they kicked ass. Here’s a clip I captured. Enjoy!
The Yes Way will be shredding at Union Pool tonight. You should go check them out. You’ll absolutely have a good time. Here is a clip I shot of them a while back. The video doesn’t do them justice. You have to see them for yourself. The show is only $8 dollars and starts at 9PM sharp.
I swung by Bar Matchless to catch Plantlife Music’s showcase this past Friday. Mainly to go check out the Souldiers of Soul. When they were setting up I thought all the people on the stage were up there just helping them set up faster but when they started there were definitely like a zillion of them on stage. OK maybe more like 8 but who’s counting?
They all played their roles well. Although it seemed to be a little excessive at first, it made sense once they started. Everyone is really busy most of the time. Every tit for tat is definitely accounted for, so the numbers do matter. Real good set! Keep your ears peeled, I’m certain they’ll be back. Enjoy the video in the meantime. Enjoy!
