If you’ve visited Brooklyn Brewery you likely crossed paths with Monster, the brewery’s resident cat. Sadly, after thirteen years the little guy passed away today due to kidney failure.
From their blog:
“It’s safe to say that few other cats have received more attention and love (and table food) from more people than Monster. When he wasn’t working the crowds, visitors to The Brewery would find Monster perched above the Company Store watching/napping over his guests, and glaring eagle-eyed at any and all intrusive dogs. In his tenure as Tasting Room Host, Monster has made fans from across the world, and has been featured in the media via Animal Planet, Time Out NY and numerous magazines and blogs. Monster quickly became one of the most photographed objects in The Brewery, and aside from possibly Brewmaster Oliver has posed with more Brooklyn fans than any other member of the team.”

I’ve walked by Adelina’s several times and found out via our pals at The Greenpointers that it is now open. Adelina’s is a wine on tap bar that also offers what appears to be really tasty and reasonably priced ($9 for a plate of pasta – whole wheat or gluten free – or an entire pizza) Italian food. Check out The Greenpointers’ post to see Adelina’s menu.

Sunday afternoon the first Zombie Dash occurred on the industrial streets of Greenpoint. This informal 2.5 mile race originally started as an idea between friends and quickly evolved into a large event with about 150 participating runners. You could sign up as a human or as a zombie. These were not the slow moving zombies of years past but super fast and in shape runner zombies who definitely kept the participants on their toes. Keep your ears open for a more formal, sponsored zombie dash around Halloween.

The North Brooklyn Boat Club is hosting a Summer Solstice Party at the Broadway Stages Boatyard tonight. There’s no cover and there will be plenty of games, music, drinks and food with a gorgeous city view. Sounds pretty damn pleasant to me!
