CITY SEARCH SAYS: Among the many dive bars in this Polish neighborhood, the Mark distinguishes itself with a selection of 50 bottled and 15 tap beers, from Germany to Japan, as well as a classic cocktail menu, including caipirinas and mint juleps. The Mark's art deco mahogany bar, jukebox with tunes from flamenco to grunge, and pool table draws a largely male clientele on weeknights. The bathrooms are noticeably clean, and the ladies room has a bidet.
From Village Voice
"You could say the quaint red exterior of Mark Bar is enhanced by the mahogany interior and stained glass windows, but who cares? The real reason you're here is the Belgian and Danish daft beers and the pool table. Lest you start thinking this is an average pub, remember your proximity to Williamsburg, note the art on the walls (by local starving painters) and check out the hip clientele."

All around awesome bar !!! Good food (though a limited selection ... try the Mac and Cheese), amazing drink and beer selection, happy hour every day from 4-8 (4 hour Happy Hour !!!), super friendly bartenders, and chill atmosphere. What more could you ask for? .... oh ... a freakin bidet in one of the bathrooms!!! I suggest getting drunk and trying it out to add to your Mark Bar experience. haha

Cool local vibe and alot of good whiskey. I was not expecting much, but I must admit that the shepards pie was pretty damn good. Thanks for the late night grub. I was just about starving to death at 3am.

Great to see this much beer selection in Greenpoint! What a beauty of a bar. Staff was cool too. I shall return.

We recently played pool against the team from the Mark Bar. My teammate was drinking watered down or "weak" drinks all night. When one of the guys from the Mark Bar went to the bar to buy my friend a drink, suddenly it was a strong drink. I guess they take care of their own.
The juke box was loud all night, and it was cool. As soon as my friend played a few spanish songs, they turned down the volume. When his credits were over, the volume mysteriously increased. Once again, they take care of their own. Listen losers---If you don't want to hear the songs in the juke box, TAKE THEM OUT!! What a pathetic attempt of a bar. SAD!!! And by the way, I'm telling every team in the APA to not spend a dime in your place. Although, they probably already know your place to be the price gouging hole in the wall that it is....

It's a nice bar during the afternoon into the early evening, good drinks, quite a bit to choose from the taps, but then as the night progresses the place seems to attract people of a "thug" nature.

Response to Ryan Newmann:
Pardon? I'm simply trying to clarify what it is that you're trying to say...why exactly does this bar suck? Is it because you had bonds and your bag of weed stolen off the premises? "'Everybody' is rude, fat and ugly? Who's everybody, first of all? Do you mean the staff, clients, passer-byers? Because even if I didn't know for certain that that was not at all true, it's very unlikely that I would believe a statement such as that one. Lastly, you say you would rather hang out someplace in Hoboken? Well by all means, let us cover your travel costs to help get you there promptly (in the off chance that you don't reside there) because we happen to like our rude, fat and ugly atmosphere better when folks such as yourself are not in it. And don't hurry back to this shitty bar. Please try and have a valid point or at least articulate yourself properly next time you take the time to lodge a complaint. Godspeed.

Ease up on Tommy and yo Billy maybe you shouldn't leave cash on the bar. I left my window open with $1000 in US bonds and a bag of weed and someone took it, learn your lesson dudearelli.
This bar does suck though, everyone is rude, ugly and fat, so lame.
I would rather go to Brother Jimmy's or somewhere rad in Hoboken.
NEW JERUSALEM SON!

Sadly, this bar has the makings of something that could be great. However it is for me interesting that the staff seem to last as long as it takes for the managers to notice that a paying customer needs a drink. Its interesting that the consistent factor in so many fired employees is the person who is letting them go...... spot the pattern? I will never return and I keep hearing the same from other patrons.

All I can say to this negative band post is this.
I try my best to do my best for everyone that comes into my bar. I talked to the both of you and we agreed on a trial run............ fucking period. if you think for one second fucking people over would be in my best interest all I can say is, I would have wished you talked to me a bit more if it was that big of a deal. Your band showed up and I thought you all rocked. Period. And I was very great full to have you in the first place. But after the gig you introduced me to your manager????? A person I have never met before and he demanded payment????
if you would have done this in the first place, I would have simply told you I could not pay your fee and you would have never have played at the mark bar. I work it this way; I give all of my bands a percentage of my register ring. And with that it is all up to you on how much money you end up making.
Is this fair.... I think so.....and don’t ever put up a post that is as negative as the post you put up, because first of all you are full of shit..... So next time....you have an issue with me voice your opinion too me and in front of me.
Or put another post, thinking your dick is bigger then it is.
Bottom line is you rocked when you played and I would never spit on you or your band. I enjoyed what all of you did.
I was trying to do a good thing and you made me feel used.
Many bands still play at my bar. Cheap shots will never take away from what my bar really is.
I would just like you to think twice, if something happens to you that you don’t like.
It happens, we all try our best. My intensions words you were genuine.
Sorry if they did not work out.
Rock on.....
cuz you do....

One of the worst experiences in a bar I have ever had. The inexperienced girl behind the bar was the worst. I was there with 7 people, spent a ton of money, and only got 2 drinks back from her on the house!!! Then at the end of the night, I still had about 15 bucks on the bar with my cell phone and keys, I went to the bathroom and came back to find that she had taken my money as she thought I left and it was her tip! Ha Ha! Loser. Never again. Oh, and next time use the right glass for my Hoegaarden!

local bar without much to offer, cheap beer, modearte jukebox. Though thursdays can be entertaining when bum plays b-porn flicks on the tv above the door. Otherwise, this place is about as average as they come.

Ya I had the same problem with the asshole Tommy. No worries he's on the musicians blacklist over at the #802 and as they say Karma Karma Karma

What a hole of a bar, especially when Tommy the bartender stiffs the band and refuses to compensate musicians who pack his hole and insults them as they leave. The spineless bastard. I shit on him and his bar!!
