NY TIMES SAYS: Greg Sandor and Paul Wegimont, the owners, have opened Bridge Vineyards Urban Winery and Tasting Room, an industrial, brick-walled space nudging the Williamsburg Bridge. Their wines and others are available for tasting with small plates of wine-friendly food ($4 to $10). Come fall, they hope to start using the stainless steel tank on the premises for blending wines and bottling, too.

FROM NYMAG: Partners Greg Sandor and Paul Wegimont named their seven-year-old Cutchogue winery Bridge Vineyards, and that name has become particularly apt. “We want to bridge the distance between city and winery,” says Sandor, who collaborates with Long Island legend Eric Fry on Bridge’s estate-grown Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Those varietals, along with a line of table wines called Brooklyn Red, White, and Rosé, are available to taste and to purchase at a satellite tasting room in the Brooklyn shadow of the Williamsburg Bridge. Their farm-winery license allows them to sell and pour only New York State wines, including, besides their own, a Hudson Valley Pinot Noir and a Finger Lakes Riesling. The partners will start pairing finger foods like stromboli and panini with $5 tastes of wine, and selling locally produced groceries like Long Island goat cheese and Sang Lee Farms salads. By next fall, just in time for the 2008 harvest, the space will function as a bona fide “urban winery,” with clients doing their own barrel sampling and small-batch blending.

We had a really nice time here. The design of the space is incredible and the wines are really quite good. Intereting the whole NY region wines and food stuffs. I will surely frequent this establishment. Williamsburg residents, join me in welcoming a new neighborhood haunt! I understand there will be outdoor seating soon. Sounds good to me!

Last night my wife and I and our friends paid a visit to the Bridge Winery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. They feature only New York State wines and local meats and cheeses. Only New York State wines? you may ask.. Well it works. It works very well.
When we arrived Greg, one of the owners, greeted us and we felt like he was welcoming us into his home. Greg seemed very knowledgeable, explained a bit about the wines we chose and had a few good stories to share with us about the wine business but was never intrusive and would leave us alone to chat in this very comfortable setting. The music seemed to be just the right volume so having conversation was as easy as tasting the wine.
Ah, now the wine. The wines chosen here really showcase what New York State has to offer. My wife especially liked the Wolffer chardonnay and we both thought the Weimer dry riesling was crisp and top notch. The reds such as the Sheldrake cabernet franc and Lenz cabernet sauvignon are very serious wines, excellent in fact. Everyone in our group ordered flights so we all got a good sampling and I think the most expensive wine on the menu is 6 bucks for a glass. (The pours are about 4oz because this is a winery, not a bar and New York State regulates this). The Bridge Vineyard wines were also very respectable wines as I really enjoyed the Merlot, a blend with cab sauv. We were told that they grow their own grapes out on the east end of Long Island and they will be having barrel tastings in the future. The barrels are right there in the room as you enjoy the wine. We were told that because this is actually a winery, not a wine bar, you can purchase bottles of wine that you liked to take home with you!
Bridge Winery is located right at the base of the Williamsburg bridge just one block from the river, a nice spot for a date or to learn about wine. There is nothing pretentious about this place and there is a real sense of homegrown pride here and as we left we thanked owners Greg and Paul for what they are bringing to this part of Brooklyn. We liked it here a lot and will return.

nice inside. wines are ok. i think it's a one trick pony sort of place though. once you've been.....also the barkeep/pourer (whatever) needs some staff. takes him FOREVS to pour a flight. crostinis were good. cheese plate- boring.

real nice atmosphere. good wine. bad vibes from barkeep. too-small "tasting size" pours for $5-$7. not much selection.

No, but it looks great.

The space is beautiful and I've been meaning to stop by. It will fit in well by marlow & Son's, Diner, Dressler, and Peter Lugers
