GOTHAMIST SAYS: The aptly titled and recently opened Hope Lounge (it's on Hope Street), might might seem a little too tranquil at first. The enormous red walls are sporadically graced with signs and Indian statues, but if there is a theme, it’s not readily apparent. Right now, it is huge, clean, and spare, which accentuates the high ceilings and abundant seating. With so much space they have enough room to house a regular schedule of live acts, most starting around 9 or 10, in the usual jazz-bluegrass-D.J. vein. You know, something for everyone. he long list of musical acts may tempt you to frequent the hopping night scene, but for the thrifty we’d highly suggest the long happy hour. From 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, all drinks are $2 off, which makes thinking of what deal you want especially fun. Sure you could discount that Corona, but aim high and you’ll be rewarded. Specifically, order a glass of Chimay, the populist Trappist beer. It would normally run you $8, which is a find by most Manhattan standards. We’ve seen some places charge more than $12. But during happy hour it is only $6, and they have both the Chimay Rouge and Bleue. The latter of which is about 9% alcohol, twice that of normal beer. So be careful. While you’re lounging on one of the red couches in the huge space thinking about all that money you’re saving, keep tabs on the number of bottles you’re plowing through. Our one left us quickly buzzed, and two will probably get you ready for the evening entertainment. After that, we here at Gothamist release responsibility and just kindly suggest you get some food in your stomach. They have a full menu.

The L Magazine Says:
“With its friendly bartenders, warm ambience and long list of nightly events, Hope Lounge will have you coming back again and again. Join them for the best Happy Hour in Williamsburg – from 3-8 Monday through Friday with $3 pints and well, $2 Buds and $2 off all other alcohol. The diverse line up of live music includes: blues, jazz, bluegrass, folk, indie rock and more. There’s something for everyone at this charming spot.” (The L Magazine, May 9-May 22, 2007; page 92)

What can you say? There is finally some HOPE for Williamsburg courtesy of HOPE Lounge. This is one of the secrets of Williamsburg. The drinks are good and the service is even better. The interior makes you feel like your in VIP. With the occasional DJ, the place can go from calm and mellow to electric. The outer part of the lounge is where everything happens, you have a grill in the back with experienced staff serving items like burgers to steak. With the combination of tents and umbrella tables, it gives you the sense of being at another location. And the music doesnt stop inside, the outside patio has speakers that take the rythmic sounds to you.The crowd is very mixed and very social, so dont be surprised if you end up leaving with more friends than what you came in with.

I've lived in Williamsburg for 5 years and was so surprised when my friends introduced me to this cool spot. This is such a charming place, I can't believe I never heard of it sooner. My friends and I went there for afterwork drinks and ended up staying til 2am. The inside is sophisticated with brick red walls while the outside feels like a backyard with umbrella chairs and a huge BBQ grill. I heard they have live music during the week. Got to check it out!
