NY MAG SAYS: It's no surprise Jeff Wells, the overseer of this long, narrow brick-walled room, is a veteran beer supplier and aficionado: He keeps 10 brews on tap and 100 in bottles -- most of them in coolers for takeout, should you be inspired to tote away a Scottish pale ale like Bitter & Twisted; a tart, cherry-flavored Belgian beer like Liefmans Kriek; or a smooth, nutty dark ale like Rogue HazelNut Brown Nectar. The scarcity of tables near the wide-open front windows means most imbibers gather around the long bar, made from the wood of bowling lanes once housed in a Queens Elks lodge. A rotating menu of panini and salads such as heirloom tomato and mozzarella incorporates local, organic ingredients, bread from a neighboring bakery, and meat cured in Greenpoint. Select cheeses can be paired with one of nine wines by the glass.
