"Boy, the days of burnt-out, waterfront-warehouse parties thrown by mohawked members of shantytown-Williamsburg gypsies are over. Red & Black, located just off Bedford Avenue -- "Avenue E" for those of you who qualitatively count the streets east from Alphabet City -- isn't like the Turkey's Nest or the Greenpoint Tavern or even Galapagos. No, Red & Black is more the kissing cousin to tonier, Euro-heavy East Village bars like the No Malice Palace and industry (food). It's very popular and very crowded."

gone daddy gone... the bar's shut down; i don't know if permanently. i won't miss it much.

got slipped a drug in our drink here. a friend of the bartender bought us the drink. it was horrible. my friend was attacked in the bathroom and her wallet was stolen. i don't remember much of the 4 hours that followed that martini.....
