NY MAG SAYS: "In any other location, the industrial-sized, pine-planked Redd's would be hopping on a Friday night, its plush couches and lantern-lit patio filled with groups of drinkers. Apparently it takes a little more of a gimmick—like Barcade's trove of vintage video games or Royal Oak's college-age sleaze—to earn the attention of Williamsburg bar-goers. But what Redd's lacks in novelty it makes up for in comfort: A stack of wax-paper bags waits to be filled with gratis popcorn, and the classic-rock jukebox, spiked with Sonic Youth and Elvis Costello, treads on pleasantly familiar ground. In the winter, bartenders heat up toddies and apple cider on hot plates. Next to a red, illuminated Esso gas pump, a makeshift stage hosts the occasional jazz band or singer-songwriter, and the bar has an accommodating booking policy toward eager acts. Of course, the lack of a crowd affords an opportunity, too: Curl up with a few friends and a pint of Summer Blue Point, and lounge like you own the place."

From Shecky's
"If you're curious about the buzz about Grand Street being the new Lower East Side, and want to find out for yourself, start at the unlikely intersection of Grand and Union, home of Redd's Tavern. Pretty new to the neighborhood, Redd's is working the crowds the way any good host should, with a guest's desires in mind. An open BBQ in the beer garden provides gas and grill while patrons bring in whatever they want to cook up. Any local band that asks can pretty much pick a night and play; even what plays on the tubes above the bar is up for grabs. Put your feet up on the couches, plunk your quarters in the jukebox, and enjoy yourself. Good luck getting up to check out the rest of the strip once you're comfortable at Redd's."
From Village Voice
"Best southern new jersey metal bar mistakenly airlifted into williamsburg
Though the lacquered sports bar shines, the bartenders and "Sweet Child O' Mine" vibe remind me of my Poison-loving sister. REDD'S TAVERN would make more sense at the Jersey Shore, yet it sits mere minutes from Bedford Avenue, offering free popcorn, cheap beer, non-ironic "Iron Man" sing-alongs, a dearth of trucker caps, and a Dave Navarro doppelgänger whose band opened for Superdrag back in the day."

Userful blog. Thanks!

I dislike this bar intensly. There is other stuff going on other than a cool chill down place.

excellent
cold beer hot bartender cheap drinks with buy backs
yuk yard closed at midnite

This bar is the best! The couches fell by the wayside but they are not missed - they were replaced with SKEEBALL which keeps you on your toes most of the night with an occasional break to watch someone else try to win a free beer. The bartendeers are top of the line and the owners are hosts with the most! the best Saturday night I've spent in ages was spent at REDD's!!

awesome bar great bartenders cool owners skeeball with beers what a night worth a trip from bedford

SKEEBALL SKEEBALL SKEEBALL
What more to say
comfort great tenders
kool atmosphere
no bad words for a place like this

What's wrong with you people?
Yes, this bar does belong on the Jersey Shore, or deep into Long Island, just like the rest of the bars that are owned by COPS.
steer clear from a place like this!

How can you not love this place? Good jukebox, pool table and skeeball!!!!

Thank God for Redds!A place where locals and the new trash can hang out without too many "Hipsters".Bar help is excellent favorite being Laura,a "cutie" and real nice person.Johnnie and Chris are the owners two guys that make anyone feel comfortable.Cheap beer and not so pricey booze, bring your own food to cook on the grill in the backyard or bring locale fare no one cares!

This bar is way under-rated...the bartenders are awesome....they have cheap specials and some good brews....FREE popcorn....nice backyard & front patio...hipster free, but an occasional crackhead lingers in...but loathe the TVs!
