VILLAGE VOICE SAYS: "Next time you're heading from the L toward Enid's, check out Triple Crown en route. Granted it's nothing like Enid's, but it's good to expand your mind, even without the aid of drugs. Don't be intimidated by the spacious, minimal Manhattan-esque interior -- think of it as a space with lots of room for friends."

FROM NY MAG
Sleek and modern, but not off-puttingly so, this is one of the most interesting-looking bars on Williamsburg’s scruffy northern border thanks to its muraled exterior and a partnership with an arts nonprofit that keeps the wall décor changing every six months from glossily graffiti-ed to classically papered: Exposed brick, candlelight, and boxy yet comfortable furniture remain the only constants. Ladies on the lookout for new talent can rest assured that the pickings here won’t be slim (or wearing tight pants and ironic nerd glasses), although, like the drinks, which include a decent selection of tap beer and specialty cognac, the crowd doesn’t come close to upstaging the music: Top-quality DJs spin Wednesday through Saturday, and on Thursdays big-name turntablists like A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and the X-Ecutioners take over. Trademark Drink: Triple Crown Martini (three different flavored vodkas + three different fruit juices)
From City Search
A refined, club-like atmosphere is rare on Brooklyn's shaggiest street, but this lounge takes it all the way. White walls, cube-shaped tables and a glossy wooden floor define the space, which is punctuated here and there by black graffiti. The owners keep it too neat at times--for example, repeatedly straightening the display issues at a magazine party--which can put a damper on the cool vibes. The music and the crowd are bubbling by midnight. Guests have a friendly, open air, in a space where the seemingly disparate worlds of hip-hop scenesters and pointy-shoed Upper East Siders merge. The bartender pours from a glowing alcove of liquor bottles, which span Irish whiskeys to flavored cognacs, laying down strong drinks that get the crowd mixing. If you're looking for something special, try a trend-conscious cognac, such as the Navan vanilla.

Yeah I don't know about the negative comments, this place is pretty relaxed. I think the indie hipsters are intimidated by Hip Hop. Grade A spot.

finally, a williamsburg bar that isn't filled with pretentious, indie rock listening hipsters.
i have met some of the nicest people just by going to there. if it ever seems like the owners only invite their friends to chill there, you're absolutely wrong. the owners and employees talk to everyone who comes in... therefore building a huge following of "regulars" who come in all the time. everyone has a good time, therefore making it seem like it's just a bunch of friends hanging out. if you ever take the time to hang there and get to know people other than your own inner circle, you might actually meet some genuinely, great people. this is just my 2 cents, so if you really want to know what it's all about, then go check it out for yourself. Thursdays are the best night if you're looking for a bigger crowd. otherwise, it's just like every other place in NYC, it has it's wack nights and it's excellent nights (not every night is going to be packed)

I like this bar because its full of mean mugs. Its one of the only places to escape inide rock. Judging by what other people wrote here, there's a lot of racists going there.

Triple Crown is awful. They need to get rid of the thursday party!! A rude crowd ruins North 11th every thursday, screaming, throwing bottles, starting fights, and disturbing the neighboorhood till 4am! I see the cops outside often, and the music is so bloody loud you can hear it from blocks away (and its blatty, not even good sounding). The rest of the week its just a lame want-to-be club for upper east siders pretending to be cool. Check out "The Fix" across the street for a "real" williamsburg crowd. but just for the fact they allow the thursday party to go on week after week, it has to go...

I guess Etrip missed this part of the directions on the review board.

For all seriously debating seeing what Triple Crown is all about, don't let some sour internet geek tell YOU what YOUR oppinions are.I mean this kid obviously ran home to his computer to write up a bad review, thats classy, he must be cool. Go check it out for yourself ! its deffinatley a hot spot.

This place sucks. To the guy below who rants about all the great acts they get: So what? The venue sucks, the sound system sucks, the staff suck. It's a hole for pretentious scenester jerk offs.

Hey NYseeme, dyslexic much? I never said anything about Lindsey... Though I don't like APT much, though Language is pretty good. Anyway, this joint stinks.
Posted by: Aisha | September 14, 2005 12:41 AM
haha... she sucks ass bro. It would seem she sucks YOUR ass. I'm no hipster. I moved out of BK when all you tight jeaned fairies moved in. Though I still enjoy renting out my condos to you trust fund bohemians. Anyway, I don't feel her "dj'ng" what can I say?
Posted by: Etrip | September 9, 2005 02:25 AM
The messege below is more for ETRIP than aisha!!!
Posted by: NYseeme | September 8, 2005 07:55 PM
This is for AISHA. You have no clue about music or DJ's. Lindsey is APT finest. She is the DJ who started the Nigro Clash Party. It is the number one dance party in NYC. Also check out Triple Crown's line-up next week. Pennut Butter Wolf, ALi Shaheed Muhammad (From Tribe), Rich Medina, and the Billberg roof top after party with OP and Lindsey. Go back to band class... you hipster dork.

bunch of dumb white boys playin' gangsta in this gay ass joint.
Posted by: 2Real | August 3, 2005 06:30 AM
Yo this place is wack. I dunno if I just went on a bad night or what, but that "dj" Myles dood needs to go back to DJ school or sumthin'.
Posted by: Aisha | July 29, 2005 07:45 AM
Being in this place was like walking into someone's wedding reception. Some crap DJ called Lindsey was struggling on the turntables. The staff seemed to have invited all their scenester friends and they were all sharing the same joke, all night. Give this place a miss unless you enjoy watching pathetic hipsters compete for eachother's attention.

The amount of talent that comes in and out their door nightly is inspiring, especially behind the Dj booth (and in the corner adjacent to it 'cause thats were we sit). Not restricted to but built for the magnificent fantastic people.
