Boo Obama
From the Wall Street Journal:
The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil — indefinitely and without trial.
Simply reprehensible. And while we’re talking politics, when are you going to stand up for gay marriage? We understand your pragmatism, but come on, take a stand on equal rights for all people. Given the recent victories in New England–not to mention the disappointments in California–now is the time to be a leader.
And what’s up with this?
In a reversal, President Barack Obama said on Wednesday he would fight the release of dozens of photographs showing the abuse of terrorism suspects.
What happened to change, Obama? Boo…. we voted for you, now stop disappointing us.

this is what we get for electing a celebrity and not a president.
obama, and all of his staff… and the senate… and the states… man i hope they know what the hell they’re doing. i’d hate to be in their shoes right now. and i pray that they’ll be able to figure all of this out with little to no corruption (since that crap is all over the place)
another thing, man gay marriage… c’mon, just let em get married. its a free country. im kinda like ms califronia, in the fact that i was raised, and still believe, that homosexuality is wrong. but THATS MY OPINION. im not gonna hate on someone for doing it. they might think some of the things i do are stupid or wrong. so what?! the best thing about people is that you dont have to understand them. i could care less if a dude and dude are married. its just a title. i would rather someone be happy and legally be aloud to do something as harmless as this. and i really wish the people of my faith would just love. my God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. and furthermore, if they actually read the bible, they’d know that we are to let the sinner, keep sinning, but show them our fruits, and let them see a difference in us. and see our peace about the world, and our comfort in life.
anybody else out there think the same? i mean seriously, what right is it of the government to tell people what they can and cannot do in regards to something like this? its not a big deal!!
The first quote is reprehensible. As for the rest, please remember that he did not run on gay marriage. He is a moderate and that is where all of his campaign promises/policy fall. As for the second quote, there are very legitimate reasons for not yet releasing the photos. They will be released just not immediately. I don’t think you can really ‘boo’ someone after only 100 days in office.
you know whats sweet? end quotes
meet the new boss, same as the old boss
Really? As much as we can line up “our” opinions in the divisions of black and white, presidential policy by it’s very nature must weigh the effects of said policy. The above comments show selfish thinking and are easily swayed by Wall Street Journal (Murdoch owned) headlines. Do your research. You’ll find there are a lot of good coming out of the White House. The best in decades.
I realize where this blog is based, but come the hell on. Going crazy when he doesn’t exact the verbatim liberal agenda is not really that reasonable, and makes you just as ridiculous as the conservatives (but still smart, don’t get me wrong).
First of all, do you really think it’s not an abuse of power to just federally declare gay marriage legal without any real consensus? Even if he wanted to, how quickly do you think it would get past congress? Obviously there would be no Republican support, but there are a lot of Democrats (Obama included) who aren’t that wild about the issue.
And I’ve heard some fucked up things about stuff coming out of Abu Ghraib (such as child rape), and though it would be pretty damning to the Republicans, maybe we should concentrate on how ELSE it would affect the political theatre, both domestically and abroad.
Basically you’re all being whiny spoiled children. It’s been like three months and he’s already undone a lot of Bush bullshit, and has two wars and a disastrous economy on his hands. And here you are sitting on your sofa in your Brooklyn high-rise saying “I THOUGHT YOU WANTED CHANGE, NOBAMA,” because he isn’t dropping everything to deal with your pet issue.
Anyone who doesn’t consider the timing of the release of the photos is a short-sighted fool. Release them eventually, sure*, just not now. Obama’s greatest strength is balance between idealism and rational functionality, and you’re basically condemning his use of it.
*And what is it going to accomplish, anyway? We KNOW there was abuses that need to be prosecuted. The majority of Jihadist recruits site seeing the photos of Abu Ghraib as what motivated them to join the movement. Why dump gasoline on the fire? They aren’t telling us anything we don’t already know.
I don’t want to sound like a smartass, but could someone please cite a poll for this?
