Bowie on Syd Barrett

The LA Times has a nice obituary on Syd Barrett. It includes praise from David Bowie:
“Syd was a major inspiration for me. The few times I saw him perform in London at UFO and the Marquee clubs during the ’60s will forever be etched in my mind,” Bowie said. “He was so charismatic and such a startlingly original songwriter…. His impact on my thinking was enormous. A major regret is that I never got to know him. A diamond indeed.”
The Washington Post has a great obit too, revealing our favorite bit of Barrett trivia thus far:
He enjoyed gardening… and was said to be skillful at stuffing peppers.
Now that Johnny Depp is *hopefully* done impersonating Keith Richards, maybe he can start working on a Syd Barrett biopic, something he claims to want to do.
