Braaaaains

My friend Clint took some amazing photos of the zombies roaming McCarren Park and the rest of Williamsburg on Sunday, including this (paid?) participant having a tug of war contest via the hooks in his and his competitor’s back. I get the whole appeal to dress up and shuffle around en masse, but can someone explain where this fits in?

I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy belongs to some kind of Coney Island freak-type organization — these are the young folks who i photographed doing the hooks tug-o-war thing in McCarren during Make Music NYC in June of 2007. They were also using the hooks to host their members into trees.
But yeah, i’m not sure how it plays into the whole Zombie theme.

I saw this too on Sunday. It got pretty nasty though, for a second when they got to McCarren. The zombie march went throught the outfield of a baseball game, and the game had to be stopped for maybe five minutes, but the players were so mad they started hitting balls into the outfield into the crowd. One hit a young girl in the leg knocking her down. Kinda harsh way to deal with a silly distraction.
Anyway, these photos are awesome. Found a bunch of others over here too:

yeah I was definitely there as one of the zombies walking the streets and that tug of war was really painful to watch up close!
