Cristal, Tube Tops, & Red Carpets Arrive in Williamsburg

Get out your hair gel, tube tops, and dolla billz. According to Gothamist last night giant spotlights were ‚”rented to herald the arrival of a new lounge called Alma on Roebling and South 3rd.” If you’re curious about what Alma has to offer there are velvet ropes, red carpets, the ability to book VIP birthdays, and most importantly VALET PARKING for all those driving in from Long Island and New Jersey. Their website details the grand opening on ‚”Thrusday” (their misspelling, not ours) where patrons were invited to dress to impress and was invitation only. We can hardly wait for Hookah Fridays and Classic Saturdays. Alma, what the hell were you thinking?

Ohhh snap I’m going to go hit up the Strawberry sale racks this weekend to get some hot shitz outfit for Alma. Cue the R Kelly music and dry humping dance moves
ewww, make it go away.
I’m assuming they’re thinking the same thing Club Europa was thinking, which is still open and doing fine.
I don’t go to Europa, nor will I be going to Alma, but people will go. Everyone seems to forget about the folks that actually grew up and still live in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area… Not everyone are feigning artistic endeavors, starving artists, or acoustic loving individuals… Some like the ung chuck ung chuck muzak.
Perhaps they will survive.
Oh, culture wars.
“(their misspelling, not ours)” – “sic” is the word you couldn’t find.
I get why this article was posted but what’s with the rip on hookahs? Is it ‘not hip’ to enjoy chilling out and smoking some tobacco if it doesn’t come from a pack of Parliament or American Spirit? I agree that certain things in life are so lame that not talking shit on them is nearly impossible but, god damn… The ‘culture’/lifestyle/demographic that I was once proud to be associated with now has more rules for what is cool and what is not than high school cheerleaders.
I agree with SRC. I’m not down with the guidelines for how to be cool by assimilating to stereotypes being touted on blogs whose demographic is supposed to be people who chose to ignore that kind of bullshit. Also, anyone being paid to write should know what [sic] means.
That picture is priceless.
Alison and highschooler-what do you think this is? The fucking NY Times? I doubt most FW readers know what [sic] means. Get off your high horse and stop complaining.
Excuse me, I’m off to stand in line for Hookah Friday.
doesn’t ‘sic’ actually mean something like “i know this is mispelled but don’t know what the actual spelling is” in which case both y’all would be wrong since FW knows how to spell thursday
e.g. man i’d get such shadenfreud (sic) if this place had a fire
id rather brush my teeth with comet
I’ve decided today to leave NY, after 7 years of living in W’burg…I’d leave earlier if there was not for a relaxing Wburg vibe, the one I do not feel anymore when I get off the train on Bedford.
Alma, shiny new residents, welcome, enjoy, farewell!!!
No matter what anyone says it does seem out of place to have a velvet rope, bottle service, and search-lights on Roebling.
cops shut down market hotel but this monstrosity gets to exist.
bloomberg = sucks
How dare those Latinos open a Latin club in a Latino neighborhood?! I bet they don’t even sell PBR’s!!!
Nice pic, I think that time you are in the hookah lounge. Hookah lounge is the best place for smoking hookah as well as drinking alcohol…
