EAT Cafe Helps Locals Eat Fresher
Greenpoint’s transformed little record shop, EAT Cafe, is now doling out CSA shares to neighborhood locals looking to enjoy farm fresh goodness.
Until November, you can sign up (on a weekly basis) to pick up a “Straight Out of the Ground” box full of the latest vegetables coming into season in the NY area. And, apparently, the food is picked the same day it’s delivered. We just signed up. It set us back only $30. Looking forward to seeing what comes in next week!
FYI – Weekly pick-ups happen on Wednesdays from 6-10pm.

cool, is the box good for 1 person or way too much?

$30 for a box of veggies, i guess depends on how big the box is, i think i could fill a decent size box full of organic veggies at tops supermarket
Pete’s Candy Store is also part of this CSA, pick up also on Wednesdays.

Hey! Got box yesterday evening. Definitely a lot of food. Cabbage, kale, leeks, lettuce, carrots, corn, acorn squash, etc. Good for 1 person if you plan on cooking all week!
But, I think next time I’ll look in the box before selecting which one to take home. I wasn’t impressed with the look of all the produce in mine. But for the most part, I can’t wait to start cooking.
What farm is it? That seems more than other CSAs ($18-25 a week). Does it include meat, eggs, or fruit or something? Maybe your readers should check out Just Foods for a list of other options: http://www.justfood.org/csa/
