Rocky changes the name of his bar every few years, the perky bartender will inform you. Waterfront, Splash, On the Rocks, Ship’s Mast, Local and Rocky’s have been just a few of the monikers adopted by this spacious dive tucked under the Williamsburg Bridge. Loyal regulars brave the desolate locale for an antidote to Bedford Avenue’s self-consciously hip scene. Bright orange and yellow walls provide the backdrop for a large, octagonal black bar with a pair of ships’ figureheads in the center. Aside from that, the surroundings are set-piece dive bar: a jukebox, a beat-up television, pool and air hockey tables, and a sketchy mix of chairs and couches.

I used to like this bar but it seems like they are willing to host white power bands like the show on October 10, 2010, so I don’t know if I want to give them my business anymore.

THE ROCK STAR BAR SUPPORTS FASCIST BANDS
Marty at the Rock Star bar was told about the fact that a fascist / NEO-NAZI band was playing their venue on Saturday Oct. 9th, 2010. We informed him and his co-workers repeatedly, so that they could, in good conscious, cancel the show.
Marty then told an Antifa (Anti-fascist organizer) that they, “have lots of fucked up bands play at the bar.” Suggesting that this would be no different.
However when we put pressure on them to cancel the show, Marty then told us that they would “never allow bands like that” to play there, and that the show was canceled. Which was in fact a lie, and they held the show anyway.
This bar supported and lied for these fascists. They even went so far as to BOOK ANOTHER show in a month.
DON’T SUPPORT THE ROCK STAR BAR! Take your business else where. Other venues in the city would not let the Nazis play and canceled their fascist show. Those are the places to support.
Really? My homegirl has a show there tonight (she’s a rapper) but this neo nazi stuff doesn’t sit well with me! smh @ this bar for supporting that
This bar knowingly supports bands that have ties to neo-Nazis and other violent fascist gangs in the US and abroad. Throw your business elsewhere because it doesn’t pay to support a scumfuck venue such as this one.

yeah, if you let bands play in your bar who sieg heil and have band logos that include nazi skullheads and bands that have members with white power tattoos and fans that have white power tattoos, and you’re booking another show with a band whose lead singer was the driver for a bunch of people who tried to burn down a synagogue in new jersey in the middle of the night a few years back, you can go fuck yourself.

The bands i question are mostly latino and black brothers. The only reason they are being singled out is because they do not agree with a group of Stahlin worshiping extra chromosome communist. The comments about ‘neo-nazi’ and ‘white power’ bands are actually directed against black and latino bands. The author has an ax to grind against these bands because they dont identify with his bankrupt political agenda. But in truth it seems to denote the authors hidden racism.
These reviews about Rock Star being or supporting ‘Neonazis’ is alot of bunk writen by a couple of kooks that don’t even go to the bar. The bands in question are actually black and latino. Its a cheap shot slander campain.
Dont support this bar, they allow hateful bands who play some trashy musci and will only attract no good thugs. this is not go for the community they are know to attack gays, ppl who the fell or reds, jews and regular ppl. they have ties with neo-nazi gangs. dont support a shitty bar like this. there are much better places you could go too.
I hate to see Rockstar getting bad press. This place has free shows all the time, and is one of the few bars I’ve come across to host numerous events throughout the week. You can watch stand up comedy on Tuesdays and play ping pong on Thursdays.
I have watched TV in there with a large group of Hasidic Jewish men from the neighborhood. There is always a healthy mix of people in there and that’s what is refreshing about the bar. A venue (especially one that is struggling to keep its head above water, with the rest of us) can’t be defined by the views of every band that passes through it. A poor decision may have been made somewhere along the line, but I wouldn’t miss out on Rockstar out of fear of nazis. I would be afraid of losing in ping pong though if I were you though.
what are these two bands? Maybe we can all judge them for ourselves then.
