Verb Cafe is really three places in one–a great morning to go coffee shop, a cozy afternoon soup/salad/sandwich cafe, and a romantic evening dessert/wine bar. It features an eclectic decor, the best coffee around, and a friendly atmosphere. Stop by for some Ciao Bella Gelato or H&H bagels. Their house blend of coffee (No. 7) is available by the pound. On a down note, it can get really crowded.

Much as this coffeehouse prides itself on fresh-brewed hot and iced drinks, distilled Williamsburg culture is its most prominent offering. The wood-floored, low-lit café flanks Bedford Avenue’s mini-mall, with several sidewalk tables, large windows up front, and a dim, soothing back area on a platform two steps from the rest of room. A constant stream of the young and fashionable, among them musicians from local bands and writers who linger for hours over their laptops, queue up for coffee and its relatives, including smooth, cold-brewed iced coffee, creamy Spanish latte (made with sweetened condensed milk), and peppermint iced tea, as well as bagels, chunky chocolate chip cookies, and pleasantly tart cherry-berry muffins. Oatmeal and daily soups warm up the daytime menu, and a few wines and beers enhance the calmer night hours
