NY Mag says:
With ample use of bright colors and fake palm trees, co-owner (and Brooklyn Label founder) Cody Utzman modeled Greenpoint’s go-to Mexican joint after a West Coast beach town, without the sand. Classics here, however, don’t hide Brooklyn-friendly twists. The number of taco fillings (or nacho toppings) including chicken, beef, pork, chorizo, carne asada, and grilled tilipa, is rivaled by vegetarian/vegan counterparts like grilled veggies, seiten asada, spicy tempeh, and soyrizo. You can get your burrito chimichanga style (fried and topped with salsa) or “wet” (smothered in enchilada sauce, cheese, and sour cream). Seating expands to an outdoor patio that stays busy through summer. If you want to linger, art for sale on the walls makes for a good topic of conversation, but proceed with caution when discussing the not-for-sale collage of Farrah Fawcett circa Charlie’s Angels in the men’s room.

Used to be good… don’t know what happened!
I just ordered Mole Poblano and it wasn’t even close to what it used to be. I think it was chicken thigh, not breast, and the sauce was just barely close to mole. The rest was half a can of black bean, almost gone off, some salad and rice…. Won’t order or eat there again.
Delivery was cold too!
How this restaurant wound up in the Best Restaurant section is beyond me. When they opened , it was great. Spectacularly went downhill 6 months after . I mean it got really bad .
@liza..It’s beyond me and many others how you would consider that Papacitos 6 months after it opened went “down hill”. 6 months after Papacitos opened they still didn’t even have a bathroom, a printed menu, inside seating or a freaking phone, let alone ever open or close at the same time..if adding a full bar, menu, delivery till 1am open till 4am and 100 seats is “downhill” then I would hate to have to make you happy on a daily basis. Yea I am friends with owners..but so take what ya will from my comments..but it would be great to be clear on what your trying to say..or actually i guess it doesnt really matter cause last time I checked, Papas serves over 600 local-loving happy people a day.
Maybe you should stop in and give it a try…
This place was worth going to when the relleno pepper burrito was on the menu. Maybe they’re under new ownership? They simplified(made more boring) the menu. I have no reason to go there anymore.
