NY Mag says:

Zak Pelaccio teamed up with former Hill Country pitmaster Robbie Richter and chef de cuisine Andrew Pressler to open this barbecue restaurant that marries the chiles and curries of Southeast Asia (especially Malaysia and Thailand) to fatty, sustainable meats (the lamb and pork is from Marlow & Daughters; the pork belly comes from Tamworth pigs) smoked over year-aged upstate oak. The big, bold mains are paired with light, acidic sides as well as smoky cocktails from beverage director Andrew Schuman. The space was designed by Pelaccio’s wife, Jori Emde, who employed materials, such as brick, reclaimed from his upstate farm, and includes a bar on the sunken first floor, with most seats on the upper level.

Blackbook Mag says:

Billyburg BBQ bro to equally obese crustacean sis. Fatty Crab’s Zak P. sprinkles his magical Malaysian spices on ‘cue smoked by Hill Country OG pitmaster. Texas vs. Southeast Asia: smoked-fish palm syrup pork spare ribs, American Wagyu brisket bao buns, coriander bacon x steamed yellow curry custard. Fixin’s veer less slaw, more noodles in meat juices, crudite of “rapid transit” charred veggies. Weathered triple-decker also offers swine chandelier, smoked-fruit fancy drinks à la “Foreplay Cock Tail,” the perfectly junior high complement to wet naps.

NY Mag says:

The menu at Snacky reads like a greatest hits list of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese appetizers, with a few remixes thrown in. Some dishes, like the subtly nutty sesame noodles or the just-spicy-enough kim chee, draw strictly from tradition. Other dishes, like the peanut chili wontons and various other dumplings, blend and update old world nuances. (The same goes for the decor, with its mix of red paper lanterns and contemporary artwork.) The size, price, and quality of the small plates encourage sampling, although you can also opt for a meal-size hot pot or Shao Bing, a Chinese-style panini. Either way you’ll be able to find the right taste to accompany your melodious Snackytini sake cocktail. The sweet song of sake will loosen you up for the real music, which could be a local singer, could be a DJ, or, every other Thursday on karaoke night, could be you. Recommended Dishes: Sesame noodles, $3.50; shao bing sandwich with roast pork and spicy sauce, $4.95.”

Metromix says:

This sprawling Asian restaurant and lounge features a mix of Japanese, Korean and Chinese fare, as well as delicious sake-infused cocktails. DJs spin regularly, and every other Thursday is karaoke night. Highlights? Asian dumplings and the crabmeat rangoon, although everything here tastes pretty great after enough sake and cheap Tsingtao. Snack on, Snacky.

NY Mag says:

For perhaps the first time in recorded history—or at least, in Williamsburg—Peruvian and Southeast Asian cuisines share one lofty space done up in semi-tropical decor and serviced by two separate kitchens. So the next time one of you wants roast chicken and ceviche and the other has a hankering for Vietnamese Spring rolls, you won’t have to toss a coin.

Metromix says:

Maison Saigon Tacu Tacu touts an intriguing menu of Vietnamese and Peruvian unfusioned food whose separate kitchens ensure that these two cuisines shall never get together. You are other hand, should bring a date to share the generously portioned Cubed Steak Saigon or ceviche, and then perform a duet in the downstairs lounge on karaoke nights.
