Organic burgers, free-range buffalo wings and cage-free chicken fingers make up the menu at this Williamsburg fast-food joint. The sustainable ethos carries over to the decor, too—the bar is fashioned from recycled Christmas trees, and the floor is made from fast-growing poplar wood.

If we had a guru, we’d certainly want him to cook a burger without any hormones or other nasty stuff in it, and that’s precisely what the Burger Guru is all about. When the spot opens Thursday at 98 Berry Street in Williamsburg, it’ll offer certified organic patties inspired by the ones cooked up by the owner’s grandfather in Greece. And that’s not all: According to the restaurant’s website, the plan is to donate a percentage of profits to “various causes which are geared to fighting illness like obesity, ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), diabetes, cancer and heart disease as well as to benefit our much abused planet and animals.” If you’re currently eschewing vegetables, this could be a burger to eat in good conscience instead.
