Opened Friday, the corner cafe irons up Dutch waffles and folds them around a variety of fillings, including Nutella, honey and cinnamon cream cheese among the sweets, and savory items like avocado and tuna salad, with combinations rotating daily.
Arman Sen, the architect who designed the sunny, simple wooden space with U-shaped counter seating, is co-owner with cook Daniel Richardson, who last worked front-of-house at DuMont (and previously made pastries at The National in Athens, GA). They’re taking inspiration from Sen’s native Turkey, where hand-held waffles are popular and tahini mixed with molasses is a common, toothsome topping (here it’s called “wolf sauce”). For a bit of local balance, they’re also serving fair-trade Dallis Bros. coffee, a brand that was founded in NYC in 1913.

Had there waffles with the chocolate syrup spread topped with vanilla ice cream. SOOO GOOD!They have alot of different variety fillings. They make it fresh and after the ice cream,they roll up the waffle. It’s like a fresh waffle cone. Really great! They make a chicken fill waffle, which I hope to try soon!
