New School Arrests (Video)
Ah, another day, another protest. In Brandon Jourdan’s video of today’s New School shenanigans obtained by the Times, we see A) police officers spraying pepper spray around a bulging door, B) a cop introducing a student’s face to the sidewalk, rubbing it in the way a big brother would, and C) a cop (who really should be fired and arrested for assault at this point) literally throwing a punch at a student protester yelling “shame on you!”. You just can’t do that. On camera, at least. The kid then of course gets swarmed and arrested.
Update: NYPD Spokesperson to the NYTimes on item C: ‚”My comment ‚Äî the officer pushed into him and he fell down. There were individuals interfering with an arrest being made, and he was one of them, and they pushed into him and he fell down.”

the cops barely did anything to these stupid kids. let them get arrested because they obviously wanted to. slammed a face into the ground? no. they are just trying to deal with asshole kids.
I was in Paris last winter and had a run in with hotel owner (he was off his rocker and thought everyone was trying to take advantage of him). Anyway, he ended up calling the cops and when they got there I couldn’t believe how abusively he talked to them and they did nothing but put there tail between there legs. I’m in Austin and the cops here will arrest you for spitting in their direction. I’m glad someone videotaped this, it’s RE-diculous how much unchecked power policemen have. This is pathetic and a shame to Civilized society. Yes, SHAME ON YOU NYPD.
People freak out and cry “ABUSE!!” whenever cops use any force at all. The kids barracade a building- what are the cops supposed to do, tickle them? Pushing the head down- standard restraint technique, couldn’t be more textbook. This is what police do, this is why they exist. If you fragrantly break the law and don’t stop, they force you to stop, that’s there job. Jesus, why don’t we have the cops stop using any force for anything for a week and see how long you survive in this city with a police force like that.
Ries, I have had enough of these NYU fuckers…I think we all have. How can you possibly say they were not asking for it? Do you know how much time an effort these whiny fucks have wasted? Even worse after they graduate they think they can cut in NYC and then move into MY fucking neighborhood (thankfully not Williamsburg).
