From New York Magazine
"Solid organic vegan fare in a cozy cafe atmosphere has made this a Williamsburg staple."
From City Search:
"Organic-savvy hipsters flock to this homey cafe, with its hardwood floors and open kitchen, for hydra-pressed fruit and vegetable dishes, veggie burgers, tofu sandwiches and vegetarian BLTs. The Bliss Bowla large portion of brown rice, beans, kale, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu, seaweed and tahiniis the specialty of the house. Grab a six-pack from the nearby Brooklyn Brewery or bodega: It's B.Y.O.B."
FROM WCITIES : This Williamsburg cafe features a relaxing, friendly vibe, which suits its vaguely Bohemian neighborhood just fine. A rotating display of local artwork hangs on the walls. And with a menu that offers everything from tempeh to tofu and all kinds of tasty vegetable concoctions, there is enough to keep just about any vegetarian happy. Try the marinated tofu sandwich, which comes with a spicy horseradish sauce. Prices are around $15 a meal. Cash only.

Cute place, though waitress was kind of rude and careless...

I'm from London (UK), and man, i thought we complained!
The food is lovely and the intimate venue is perfect for a late arternoon cosy gobble. How many places let you bring your own drink? exactly, so stop complaining guys!

Good food, alt grains, yummy squash, cute atmosphere, mediocre attitude from the waitstaff... but shitty, shitty juice.
I don't know why a place would have such stellar juice combinations only to juice it IN ADVANCE. According to my waitress, they juice everything in the morning and store the stuff in the fridge. Anything with ginger loses it's spunk by then. Their sub-par juicing standards made me cry.

This is quite possibly the worst vegan spot I've been to. Put aside for a second that the people working there are the biggest cunts in the world (british of course) and the service was terrible. I was saying to myself, why am i paying to feel like they're doing me a favor letting me eat there? food was decent but far from good. I thought vegans were cool by default...what a mistake.

I love Bliss. Of course, I've only eaten one item there. But, it's so good, I can't stop ordering it:
Grilled Seitan on Whole Wheat bread, with spicy peanut butter spread. Oh man, is it scrumptious!
Along with a side of healthy coleslaw and some brown rice, it's a perfectly filling and tasty meal.
I can see where people might complain about the service -- I've had good and bad experiences with that. But not bad enough that I won't return!
The space is small and tight. I consider myself lucky for being able to find a table every time I've been, thus far.
One of these days, when I tire of the SATAN sandwich, I'll move onto the veggie burger...I'll update then!

The BEST tofu scramble I have EVER had. Been vegan for 9 years and consider myself a 'foodie'. I am so addicted to their tofu scramble. I want it every freakin' day. Everything else is good, but the scramble is great.

my girlfriend and i come here just about every week. don't believe the comments below - the food is very good and the waitstaff is fine. try the harvest plate or the tofu curry. both are great and reasonably priced. a great plus is that it's byob.

I just recently placed an order for pick up again with pure dred in my heart. Not only is the staff snotty as can be, they look at you as if your from another planet if you ask them for anything and you have to keep salt & pepper packets handy to eat the food. Help! Someone come up with another Veg Rest soon.. I can't take this anymore....

yuck! i have been a vegetarian for over ten years and this place was very disappointing to me. overpriced, bland, small servings. the people were nice and the place is cute but the food really is not that good!

Man up and eat some meat.

i have to disagree that the waitresses are "nice" and the staff is "friendly". as a veg, i've been forced to go to bliss for years, and the servers are always nothing less than snot-tastic. they've royally effed-up takeout orders, too, and given some serious 'tude when we've asked them to fix THEIR mistakes. lame.

The food is decent, the waitresses are nice, but the owner is nasty and snotty. I will not go there anymore after being treated like I was stupid or annoying all three times that I have been. She does not deserve my money.

the food is generally awful here. their granola, fruit and yogurt is the only thing that's fine, but you have to be a total dickwad to fuck that one up. their salads are disgusting enough to send moby running to burger king. the waitstaff is generally friendly, but the space is cramped and uncomfortable. yet it draws huge crowds of bedheads in graphic tees. perhaps they are just nostalgic for the williamsburg of 6 years ago, as this place is one of the few that has remained virtually unchanged.

This restaurant is a travesty to the name of vegetarian.
I'm vegan and I never even THINK to go there. The service is practically non-existent, aloof and slow. The food tastes a shade more savory than cardboard. Awful. Never go here. Even if you're starving, get a bagel or something.

I think the food at Bliss is pretty good. It's definitely tastier than Angelica's.
It's a cheap, quick place to go for a healthy, filling and reasonably tasty dinner. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you're fasting or on a severaly restrictive diet that bars you from consuming anything with any salt or spice, stop by.
The food isn't bad, the people are very nice, its very progressive, but damn, it is boring. You get an absurd amount of food but its nothing every vegetarian cook could make at home with little to no effort.

I hate that places like this exist, because they perpetuate the idea that vegan food lacks flavor. This is the worst vegetarian restaurant I've been to in nyc.

If you want to pay for only food, stay at home and cook your own. At Bliss, the atmosphere is great, the wait staff is always pleasant, the price is right, and the food is fantastic. On occasion the food can be bland, but I always give restaurants multiple tries and do not base my opinion solely on one meal. A full vegan breakfast is very hard to find in NYC, but Bliss always comes through for a great tasting, healthy breakfast. Lunch and dinner, too. And for those who care about themselves and others: the food is organic, so is the coffee as well as fair trade, and Bliss is not a chain restaurant. Eat healthy, support vegetarian restaurants.

there used to be no other vegan options round here. now there are. unless you're into being healthy and you need to avoid any sort of flavoring, try somewhere else.
