The dude behind the counter is nice. But the food pretty much sucks. Sorry, dude. There's much better Tex-Mex eats in the area. Try harder.

i got no beef with buffalo cantina, just wish it were there when i lived on the southside with its derth of ANY decent place to eat!
the burrito is a really good value. filling and pretty heathy, what with the brown rice.

You guys are the 60170 best, thanks so much for the help.

mmmmm tasty. their baked tofu in hot sauce is delicious, as are their burritos and rice and beans. lastly - the dessert tortillas with cinnamon sugar are sickeningly bad for you but unbelievably good to eat. this is my favourite place when i have the munchies.

i agree with earlier comments. the blue cheese here for the wings is a joke. more like Kraft Ranch.

excellent food. Was suprised to fine Wings and Burritos in a restaurant with such a comfortable atomosphere.

Hey Meryl, thanks for the compliment. My Burritoville days were a blast. Here's the Red Salsa recipe.
You'll need
Tomatoes
Onions
Jalapenos
Cilantro
Salt & Pepper.
First roast the tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos. You can either grill them or toss them in the oven, either way make sure you get them nice and charred. That charred skin is what gives it that distinct flavor and color (try saying maroon salsa, it just doesn't have the same ring)
Let them cool, then place in a food processor along with fresh cilantro. Don't over process as you want it somewhat chunky. Salt and pepper to taste.
A final note: the amount of jalapenos and salt you add really depends on your personal spice levels, because we have a spicy green salsa in the restaurant we keep the red relatively mild. Also if you want to limit the amount of sodium always remember a fresh squeezed lime goes a long way.
Enjoy

I read online somewhere u came from Burritoville, a long time favorite of mine (I'm in Manhattan).
Do you mind if I ask the recipe for the "red salsa"
(I think the other two were green and black?) but my boyfriend and i love the red one.
Thanks for your help

just got delivery..wings are pretty good--not as good as Teddy's wings though, for sure--and the blue cheese is weak..again, see Teddy's. veggie burrito was alright..def not blown away, taco chulo is a better bet...and somehow I dropped 14 bucks on what i hoped to be a cheap meal

Lovely, lovely staff, yummy dressing on the spinach salad, GREAT veggie burrito---we'll totally go again.

yeah, it is gringo mex. there's nothing particularly creative or interesting on the menu... just cheap, consistently good tacos and burritos. i go here often for a "bring home a burrito and watch a movie on the couch" sort of dinner. you always know what you're going to get-- comfort food-- and there's a lot to be said for that. also, the guys who work there are super-nice, they'll wave to you if you're just passing by the window.

gringo mex to the max

NOT GOOD! take the 5 extra steps to get to Taco Chulo instead. Buffalo Cantina is OVERPRICED and the food is as bad as loco burrito. there is no reason to go here.

Buffalo Cantina is hands down --
the freshest,
most flavor-filled,
budget-friendly,
mexican spot in the burg.
It's worth the extra six block trek from Bedford-main (Bedford + North 5th)

this place makes the best junk food ever. wings, rings, burritos--everything greasy and good is done exactly right.

Solid Food
I enjoy the Buffalo Cantina just about weekly for lunch. The soups and burritos are real good. I particularly like the salads for lunch. How about a taco salad - i.e. beans, cheese, ckn, & lettuce?
Any word if the free chips and salsa are coming back?

Oh, and 2 liter sodas would be nice.

You guys run a nice place! The wings and the shrimp quesadilla I had were most tasty, and the chips with salsa (the green is better than the red) were good while we waited.
May I suggest you create an online menu for this fine website? I called once without a menu and was stupefied at what to order.

in response to Heather and others, I promise the free chips and salsa will return in a few months time. Stay tuned.

Somewhere in the sky there's a cosmic bridge from Lake Erie to Laredo and the two Waynes that run this place are the gatekeepers, importing richly satisfying Mexican classics and exporting finger-lickin' American food culchah'. Of course, along the path there are many cold beers to be drunk and wines tha leave most cantinas in their dust. And when you wake from the langour of your trip into this calm little oasis on the border of the very old and the very new, you'll realize you're in the very spot you've been looking for. Or pause the playstation and order up for ultra-quick delivery.

Everytime I'm in NYC I make a special trip to BC. Great food. Great prices. Great portions. Great kitchen. Wayne treats everyone well. Buffalo Cantina is well worth the trip.

Buffalo Cantina not only fills the void in my stomach with it's generous portions of delicious food, butit helps fiil the void of restaurants with great food in the area -- and it won't leave a void in your wallet with it's incredibly
reasonable prices! Staff and owners are great too!
reasonable prices!

VERY worth the trip; excellent food, and very nice attitudes. Since it's a bit of a hike from PT, one can overindulge and then walk it off!

Buffalo Cantina is a great addition to the South Side. Food is excellent and staff is really great. Chicken tostadas should be on the menu every day!
