This long-standing barista boasts the neighborhood's finest iced coffee (even at $4 a pop it's a steal) as well as a cannoli that would make an Italian mama blush. The interior, dripping with seasonal Easter bunny cut-outs or fruit-striped candy canes, is warm and inviting and the counter is always loaded with fresh baked sweets wrapped in cellophane. You might catch the occasional shag hanging about, but there are only four tables to lounge around in and the extended family takes up two of them. Plus, owner's Joe and Sarah nixed their smoking section last year, cutting its hipster lingering down by almost 50%. Don't worry about losing out on all the fun by asking for it to go-Joe weaves a great two-minute story chock full of neighborhood lore.
From Village Voice
"An intimate caf? for sipping espresso that tastes like the old country, Caffe Capri is run by an older Italian couple who move slowly but make the most tantalizing cappuccino in town. They actually have customers sip the aromatic drink before taking it out of the store, determining if the ratio of milk-to-java is correct. The ricotta cannoli filling is made on-site, and the shells are filled when you order them, guaranteeing a crispy first bite."

Joe and Sarah are amazing! They are like the Italian family I never had. The coffee is the best (the iced is out of this world!). Tho I now can't drink any other coffee...it's all pale in comparison to Cafe Capri!

Joe, the owner, is this really dapper cravat-wearing Italian gentleman who makes you feel right at home. He uses real coffee to make ice cubes for the iced coffee. Plus it's adorable and old-timey. My husband and I like to go there and read the Post while sipping our cappuchinos and eating home mada canoli's. It's such a cool room, too.
