Pizza is in the eye of the beholder. It's very, very personal. Too personal for a review of a restaurant that serves much more than pizza. Carmine's is total american italian comfort food that taste good and is easy too eat. We are regulars there and even though we've only lived here for three years we are treated really well and Carmine always says something nice to us when we are there. I'm ordering a spinach calzone now...

Do not listen to the few sociopaths who say bad things about Carmine's. I moved to the hood 2 years ago from Manhattan, and it's not only great pizza for the neighborhood, it's among the best pizza i've had in the city. The workers are all very fast and friendly. It's a neighborhood institution. Also, not only are the pizza AND canoli superb, so is the espresso. A double shot ... totally strong, good stuff.

My Boyfriend and I look forward to eating Carmines Pizza every on football Sunday! We just love it. They have many pizza choices and a bunch of toppings. We highly think the personal pizza's are the best! Especially the Hawaiannnn!!!

If you want pizza that has no taste, go to Carmine's. I've never had such boring pizza in my life. They don't use salt, their sauce is lame, and the fresh mozzarella is a joke.

A note to the second commenter, the so-called food crit, who posted their comment on Dec, 4, 2006, why dont you get a life. There is no way on earth anybody from that establishment cursed you over the phone. Everyone of those workers bust their ass to keep assholes like you happy. Don't be jealous and like I said get a life and learn how to be happy.

you can separate wanabees from neighborhood residents by how they rate carmines; excellent pasta, pizza +vegetarian dishes (salad, grilled veggies; escarole & beans). great meals for less than ten bucks: join the neighborhood or stay in manhattan

I dont know what any of you are talking about? That was the worst pizza. I ordered deep dish and what I got was, thick dough with a cardbord bottom. The cheese was not good the sauce was no good, but this is all irrelevant because the crust was just soo bad. When I called to make sure I had recieved deep dish, the guy on the phone from Carmines said, if you dont like it dont order it and "go fuck yourself" Now thats no way to treat a custumer.

I was there one time and these guys who clearly were not from this neighborhood matched in like cattle n just began to stand a round and just watch the METS game really upsetting the staff and tons of other people there, i was a little irritated too this jerk off was right next to me....GREAT PLACE TO GO AND EAT THOUGH

You can definitely be made to feel like an outsider here, by the staff and locals, kind of a cliquey vibe, but the food is really awesome. Pizza is the best thing, and the best in Williamsburg. Entrees are good, portions are extreme in volume. Very cheap. One of my favorite places to eat.

Forgot to add: Carmine's has great cannoli! Most cannoli you buy has been sitting around with the cream inside and as a result the shell gets soggy. However, at Carmine's they add the cream inside the empty shells when you order them.

Eh, decent pizza, good for the area. However, the best pizza is at Nino'a Pizza in Bay Ridge! My favorite is the Sophia Loren slice, absolutely phenomenal! They have another location in Bensonhurst which has the same great pizza but I can't remember the name of the place. I've taken trips from manhattan just to eat pizza in Bensonhurst.

Way more than pizza, which is the best in the hood, with a thin, well baked crust. The pasta dishes I have tried were all great, especially the al forno ones. Excellent coffee (espresso). Friendly staff, lots of seating. One of the best things about moving to the Graham Ave. stop.

Great family owned/staffed place--way more than pizza--good pastas, salads, and a variety of vegetarian specials (grilled veggies, spinach w garlic etc). Portions are so big its dinner plus tommws lunch. Seltzer on tap, good cappucino. Bad reviewers had to work for their experience--it can take time to get your food but that's because there's so many locals, cops, & firemen ahead of you. (do the math)

i went there last week after reading the above reviews and i guess none of you have ever eaten at vinny's in carrol gardens. anyway the pizza at carmines was about 5# of cheese per slice topped with about 2oz of grease and i believe that there was some sort of dough underneath but i cannot be sure

By far the best pizza in Williamsburg with so much seating and a super friendly staff to wait on you!
