WE SAY: Cliché Haight-Ashbury decorations adorn this bland burrito joint. Absolutely no attention is paid to food quality and preparation. These guys just wanna make a buck and apparently have no interest in pleasing the palate. A good place to go when you you are in a hurry, only have 5 bucks, and could give a damn about what you eat.

Comments
You guys should really update this site - there's been a location on Bushwick & Montrose for over four years, and despite what these reviews say, I have never seen a Loco Burrito exist on Bedford Ave.
Regardless I've been to both the Montrose location and the Graham location and I'm always pleased with what my $8 gets me (a good and huge vegetarian burrito).

the menu has changed a lot in price more than 2$ increase they used to be good and cheap now they raised their prices and skimp on everythign and I am a huge fan of gucamole. this place you woudl think would have good guac. however i have ordered it 3 times and it smells and tastes like bananas. they put bananas in to stretch the avacados i guess but it is the biggest dissapointment when youre ordering cheap eats on a shoestring budget and getting stffed

Okay, to those fooly-asses who say there aren't any good cheap burrito making places out in NYC, do your smug mouths a favor and go to Downtown Bakery on 1st ave between 4th and 5th and get yourself the chicken chipotle special. Hands down, best burrito spot in the city.

Watch out for these guys.. Every time I've paid with a debit card, they've increased the amount by about 1.50 at the end of the night. Your receipt looks accurate but when the debit shows up on your statement, it's always for a higher amount than what you supposedly paid. VERY DISHONEST! I've informed Visa about this little practice. Too bad because the food is pretty good...

This review is in sore need of an update. Yes, food was unimpressive in 2005. New ownership came on a year later (at least at Bedford). This place is no gourmet (go down the street to Bonita for that), but it is pure southern cal mexican - a cuisine which definitely has its time and place (like when you're hungry and want an unfussy delicious burrito). The new owners are also very friendly. I always go to this site to find the # to order from, and am always re-disappointed when I see the poor "official" review that's been up forever, cause I suspect it keeps business away from these folks. For people who know, this is serious and tasty just north of the border food. (the spicy green tomatillo salsa is perfect). Best kept secret in Williamsburg.

this place is pretty good, if you have no idea what good mexican food tastes like.
grand moreles has the best burritos in williamsburg.

this place is great!I still cant figure out how they make money and pay the crazy rent in this neighborhood. The food is hella cheap

I can't believe freewilliamsburg.com reviewed this place so poorly. I go to the Bedford El Loco all the time and am addicted to the Crazy Chicken Burrito. It is sooooo good. I prefer this Mexican place for burritos over any other restaurant in the 'hood. I am disappointed that the name changed to L.A. Burrito, though.

When my usual Mexican place was out of guacamole, I went here. Bad mistake. Their idea of guacamole is, apparently, a pico de gallo with a hint (and I do mean just a hint) of avocado. It tasted OK, but it WAS NOT guac.

i've only gone to the bushwicke ave. location, but the food is really tasty and inexpensive, and the staff is friendly.

Montrose stop Loco Burrito III... don't comptete. I lived off their amazing burritos since the day they opened. Maybe it's the awesome guys that work it, I haven't really tried the other locations, but I could always count on the White Bean Chicken burrito, the fish burritos, and absolutely the Monterey: Breakfast burrito explosion. Yeah... old school: from New Mexico here, and this joint was REFRESHING to find. All my friends from San Francisco who visit, say, "this is the ONLY burrito in NYC." I hope y'all are idiots and that the bedford location ain't that much worse than the Montrose location, cuz I just moved to the 11211, and I NEED my Monterey.

went to the one on graham. had a vegetarian burrito which i thought was pretty good, but i've definately had better and it is overpriced. the burrito was big though. i didn't think it was as bad as some others but it def wasn't fantastic.

Their burritos are the best around. All of them are good.

(Graham location) Overall decent food. I order from there fairly regularly because of the convenience and the fair prices. Stay away from the nachos, you get it lukewarm and the cheese is already hardened. The best mexican I ever had was believe it or not in Long Island. If you ever happen to be in Valley Stream (or have a car to drive there), go to Don Diego! It's a wonderful small family run restaurant with great home cooked meals.

i too find nyc lacking in good cheap mexican food. i just moved by the graham ave location and tried it one night since bonita would not deliver to us. i now order a few times a week. i totally love the vegetarian flautas!!!!! they are so freakin' awesome and the pinto beans are always fresh and yummy. sounds like the bedford location sucks but... it is on bedford. give it another shot at another location.

Yous are some cranky motherf*ckers. These mexican guys are so cool and the food is simple but good and cheap. Reliable. The one warning i do have is that the spinach sometimes is sooo fresh that it sometimes does have earth in it yet. Otherwise, right on. Tortilla soup is MAJOR.

When my partner & I moved to Brooklyn, we found the restaurant off the Jefferson stop and fell in love. We went back over and over, then discovered the one right next to our apt on Graham. The service is better at the Jefferson stop, but the tacos, fajita platter, and flautas are still pretty great!

Nothing to add to what's been said here: bad food, bad service.

On the Northside, you can try the burritos at the taco stand by Monsiegner's and Mccaren Park. They are cheaper and better than this crap! (and they deliver!)

I am mexican. The food at the Graham Ave. location is really, really bad. The quality is horrible. The preperation is below average. I can find better Mexican all over that neighborhood, even from the Chinesse places that sell mexican food. People feel comfortable with it because they speak english and the decor is neat, if not overtly San Fran. Those who say they like it, do yourself a favor and get out of your comfort zone and go to El Tio on Meeker or to the place on the cornor of Graham and Grand. Please do not keep rewarding El Loco Burrito for having substandard mexican food.

Listen, it's about impossible to get a good, cheap burrito anywhere in NYC. I'm from San Francisco and go home just for the burritos there. I have no idea why it's so hard to make a good burrito on the East Coast, but apparently it's just not possible.
That said, I order from Loco Burrito (Graham) all the time. Yeah, their food really isn't that great and I'm not fond of their burritos, but their chicken nachos with extra jalapenos are pretty good. It's not that the chicken or jalapenos are actually that quality (they're not), but somehow the slopped together mix makes for one of the more satisfying quick Mexican I've had in New York.

Like a great work of art, E.L.B. ignites the general public. Tempers flare; passion pours through as we glimpse the elusive Loco through the eyes of many...and thus we ask, Just what -who- is the Loco? Saint? Scoundrel? Saviour of soy? We might not ever know for sure. But let's keep asking, brothers and sisters, let's keep asking.

I appreciated the cheap, divey quality of this place (Bedford location)until it occured to me that it's really not that cheap after all--you could get the same thing for the same price right across the street at Sally's (sadly, out of buisness) where it's actually good and comes with a salad. The mind merely tricks itself into thinking you're being frugal--why else would you tolerate such crappy food/service/atmosphere/music(fucking Puddle of Mud, for crying out loud!).
The cashiers are aloof and the food is assembeld carelessly--when eating a burrito you work your way through bland, undercooked rice to reach concentrated pockets of sour cream, guac, or meat. You forget that you asked for cheese until you hit a wall of it in the last two bites. I'd recommend this place to fans of Puddle of Mud and other people who like spending their money on things that suck.

omg are you kidding me? this place the THE BOMB
Posted by: yumgrub | July 14, 2005 03:29 AM
the only good thing about the food here is that it's cheap and fast, which doesn't make up for the complete lack of flavor whatsoever. the vegetarian options are disappointing. i would rather eat napkins.

i got take out from the graham ave store and it was really bad. it was mostly white rice, and whatever else they put into it was completely tasteless. really dissapointing!

This is a GREAT place with an awesome white chilli chicken burrito and mouth watering tortilla soup. I am originally from Texas and trust me when I say this is good Mexican food.

ew. the one on Bedford was nasty when it opened and still is now. Bonita delivers too ya know. avoid this.

I live on Grand Street East and I've been ordering from the Graham Ave El Loco regularly for little over a year. The food is consistently good and cheap, the people are always nice and I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for delivery (usually 15-20). The Guac and the Arizona shrimp burrito are my personal favorites. Ok.. Just I logged on this site to get their # and ordered a reg burrito, arizona shrimp burrito, large guac and order of bb nachos and they got here very hot in 11 minutes. I don't know what goes on at the Bedford location, but there aren't any delivery problems here.

I completly disagree. I must assume you people have never actually had good mexican food. I grew up in New Mexico and California and NYC is completely lacking in mexican food. Get a Beef burrito or something simple and you must have a lot of green salsa. These people are always nice and quick and allthough the decor is a bit garish I think this place is top notch. I remind you stay away from the gimmicky crap. Corn has no place in a taco except for the shell and spinach is for pizza.

A loco burrito recently opened up on bushwick avenue, and I think its great. Theyre really nice, and the food is terrific. I like that they have brown rice and lots of vegetarian options. Also when Ive had food delivered, its been here within 15 minutes...
Posted by: allison | March 14, 2005 02:46 AM
Excepting the tacos, this place is crazy bad. I mean, really. Go to buffalo cantina! Only 3 blocks away. I emplore you.

Both times I've tried to get delivery from the place on Bedford, it has been SLOW. Like, waiting an hour and a half or more for the food, which arrives COLD. (I don't live that far from the place.) And the food is just not good. Avoid at all costs!!!
