From City Search:
"The shiny black tables and chairs in this bare bones cafe are perpetually packed with teen couples, old paisanos from the 'hood and ice cream afficianados diving into some of the city's best housemade gelato. Flavors range from standards to hard-to-find Italian options, like tiramisu, hazelnut and zuppa inglese. Other temptations include spumoni, tortoni, cannoli, cookies (try the pinoli), tarts and fluffy white cakes to order."

Desserts are pretty good here. Although the cannolis are not completely authentic: a true Italian bakery would fill them when ordered. They could also use some more chocolate chips in the sweet riccota. The owner was part of the the Genovese crime family and was indicted for murder a while back, so that's always fun.

i made a sprint through the neighborhood on my last night in NY to catch this place before they closed. everything looked amazing, but I am only one girl, so I chose 3 items. de-freakin'-licious. all of it. i only regret i didn't go sooner so I could try 3 per night.. i shall have these goods delivered to me in Nashville...I shall!!!

THE BEST EVERYTHING. This is the way a classic Italian bakery used to be and everything else should aspire to be. Incredible lobster claws and cannolies, you should do yourself a favor and go out of your way to try this place...
