A tasty, cheap, hipster free Italian joint.
From Village Voice
"That a non-hipster restaurant can still open in Williamsburg is a shock. This nonconformist, decorated in Jersey Suburban, was founded by descendants of immigrants from the Italian town of Teggiano. Though the house tomato sauce is somewhat bland, there are many admirable nonna ("grandma-style") dishes, including an eggplant rollatini oozing good ricotta, deliciously plain escarole and beans, and spectacular linguine with broccoli rabe and garlic, a special some days. After dinner, hop across the street to enjoy the coffee and killer cannoli at Caff? Capri. "

This is the best italian authentic food i've tried yet! This is definitely Brooklyn's best kept secdret. As a very discriminatory taste tester, I must say this is one of the very best, AND at the same the prices are very reasonable, and the staff, especially waitress GINA, are terrific who know their customer and their product! EXCELLENT! 2 THUMBS UP!!!!!

BTW, this place has been there before the hipsters moved into the neighborhood!

Give me a break. Jersey Suburban? You have been watching too much HBO on Sunday evenings. LaLocanda is the real Brooklyn deal. Don't be fooled by the Times Square tourist trap by the same name. The food, staff and ambiance are the best in Billyburg. Get off the L - walk a few short blocks and check it out.

Fabulous & affordable! Veal Milanese, seafood salad, homemade pastas and sauces are wonderful. If you don't go I don't have to wait as long!!
