NY MAG SAYS: "When he opened Marquet Patisserie in Boerum Hill in the late eighties, Jean-Pierre Marquet was a Smith Street pioneer. Since then, he's relocated to Court Street, sold his Manhattan and Fort Greene outposts, and bought a manufacturing plant in Bushwick. Now he's branched into the bistro business with Le Barricou, a Williamsburg restaurant whose French street signs leave no doubt about the restaurant’s provenance. Chef-partner Joab Masse's menu, though, takes a multicultural approach, offering coq au vin alongside salmon over Asian long beans with Thai barbecue sauce."

I have been there with my friend for a sandwich and a drink eating at the bar. The place is well designed, relaxed and the service is pleasant, prices reasonable.
My sandwich was delicious.
Over all we had a nice experience and we will be definitely back.
And one more thing: the place was not loud. Both, my partner and I are really tired of noisy places where one has to strain one's voice to have a conversation.

People, you might want to check out the baked pancakes. (A new thing on the brunch menu.)

I've come here for brunch several times and though the food tastes fine, usually one person's meal is always cold. Also, something always goes wrong with the service: last time, for instance, I ordered fries instead of a salad with my sandwich, though a salad came nonetheless. When I mentioned this, the waitress asked if I'd like to order a side of fries instead of acknowledging her mistake or offering to change it. Another time my party received our dishes, only to have the plates scooped up a minute later and served to another table which had ordered the same exact thing. We alerted the waitress that we had already "touched" the food and started on the French fries, but this didn't seem to matter. Luckily (for the restaurant) the next table didn't notice.

My fiance and I visit Le Barricou at least once a week. By far, it's our favorite spot! We have technically tried everything on the menu, and nothing disappoints our taste buds. The decor of this restaurant is very appealing, the waitstaff is attentive. The prices are reasonable. It is a highly recommended spot.

We eat here at least once a week. Not only are the prices great, but the food is really amazing. The specials are usually the best way to go and save room for dessert (try the flourless chocolate cake) Ask your server for what wine specials they have or they'll usually suggest a good wine. This has easily become our favorite restaurant. It's nice for a romantic date or having a few friends along.

Went there today for brunch... The food was well priced and the portion sizes were plentiful. The servers were attentive - definitely on my top favorites list.

I was there this weekend and one of the waiters told me that they had undergone a change in ownership, that the food would stay the same but they are trying to change the feel of the restaurant. They certainly have a better stocked bar, and they also said the back room would be turned into a lounge. Sounds like its going to turn into a great space!

Absolutely fabulous!!! Seriously, the service was on the spot and very friendly. The food was superb on the top notch restaurant level. And the prices are shockingly reasonable. We Have been twice and ordered different meals each time. Each was honestly perfect. The interior is relaxed and comfortable but not exceptional. Not a place to impress with atmosphere but a true sleeper in the food and service department: like a super-fast primer gray hot-rod.

We've had two meals here, one dinner and one brunch, and both were excellent. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and competent. A great addition to the neighborhood and highly recommended.

Everything we had was beautifully prepared and presented, not to mention delicious. The coq au vin is especially savory. No problem with the circle of steak slices either. I've been twice and after having the beet salad once, had to have it again; the cubes of apple mixed in with the beets created a really good contrast of taste and texture. The tarte tatin is fabulous although those who love creme brulee won't be disappointed. Personally I'm delighted that this place opened around the corner from where I live.
