Insulted and appalled... not to mention disgusted.
Ok, true story. 5 of us (early 30's crowd) went there this evening for a drink close to their closing time. We immediately loved the place and the decor and discussed possible dinners in the near future. I was personally drinking seltzer and was stone cold sober. The bar tender was nice as her proceeded to serve the group. Some got a second round but we couldn't have been there longer than 45 minutes. The bill came to $38 (including the 4$ seltzer). We counted out our monies and made sure we left a decent tip. We left $45... not great, but their atm was broken and that's all the loot we had. But still, we thought it was ok given it was only drinks. We then congregated out front when the bartender came barreling out of the door and started yelling at us that we didn't leave him a tip. We of course wanted to correct any misunderstanding. But he slammed the door in our face. Then a few moments later, he came back out and continued to add insult to injury saying we must be drunk and it is just "very frustrating" that we didn't tip him after A) the night HE had and B) keeping the bar open near last call. AGAIN we tried to give him more money but alas he again slammed the door. BUT CHECK THIS OUT. We were walking up Berry and the same guy drives past in his car, honks his horn a few times as he drives WHILE flipping us the finger! We were embarrassed and hurt. One of us plans to go back and hopefully talk with the manager (god willing it's not the methed up bar tender). A man like that shouldn't be employed in the hospitality business. The place is very beautiful and seems to have much potential... but we were so threatened by this guy that it's hard to see going back. Shame. I can honestly say I've never had a worse experience at a restaurant. It ruined our nights.
