Ok, in case anyone who posted didn't realize. Favelas are Brazilian slums... so the look is supposed to be slimey in a sense. The food is pretty damn good actually-- the chef was pulled from another Brazilian restaurant to come work there. As for the noise, I'm sure that complaint is coming from someone who lives there and is annoyed...

It seems a bit on the slimy side. The odors are intense. The outdoor area smells of stale liquor and the music is way too loud. I feel sorry for those who live there. The noise and the food smells can be taken from far away and any decent restaurant owner who cares about their clients would consider the whole experience. I heard from some of those who live in the area that the odors burn their eyes and they have trouble breathing. Too many people are being put out for personal gains. I even saw some of the employees go around the corner to smoke outside where other people live. I would not recommend it just for the cheap smells and noise. I would not recommend it because of the lack of respect for those who live in the area. I hate walking my dog by the restaurant even though I dared to eat there. I won't eat there again and I try to take other routes.

The food is good and the fun, frantic atmosphere is even better. The music is lively and everyone is enjoying themselves. The place is always packed too, with a good mix of locals and South American expats who seem to go out of their way to go there. The food is, to be honest, a little over-priced for what it is, but it's definitely good and fresh (not Costco) and it's worth going there if you're in the hood.

This was probably the worst meal I've ever had. That's pretty bad. It wasn't like a bad night sort of bad, but the sort of thing where they get their food from COSTCO and charge you $14 for re-heating it. So, if you want to buy that kind of food, go ahead, but don't say I didn't warn you.
