From New York Magazine:
"As a member of the entrenched Bamonte’s clan, Nicole Giannone bridges two culinary epochs in Williamsburg--its red-sauce past, as epitomized by her family’s 106-year-old eponymous restaurant, and its wine-bar present. Recently, she, her husband Peter Giannone, and her uncle Bill Haenlen converted Bamonte’s bakery offshoot into n.6, a cozy enoteca serving a familiar menu of panini and tramezzini made with ingredients from local purveyors like Napoli Bakery and Emily’s Pork Store. It’s the kind of simple, snacky food the Giannones like to eat when they go out--groundbreaking, no; satisfying (and affordable), yes. And the hipster-free hospitality is a refreshing change of pace. The owners have preserved the bakery’s original tile floor and vintage ceiling fans, and turned its butcher-block workstation into a bar, achieving an artfully aged patina that befuddles the old-timers who pop in looking for biscotti and discover bruschetta instead.."

The beer served in the wooden stand is Kwak. I heard that this place was good, and had a decent beer selection and that confirmed it. I might try it tonight.

this place has a nice calm atmosphere and is not over-run by annoying 19 year old hipsters that think they are too cool for school. I had the ravioli which was ok, but I liked the sauce better. I want to go back and try their delicious-looking paninis.

Just far enough away from Bedford, this family owned and operated jewel is terrific! The food is yummy and the service is friendly. Try the Artichoke Pie to start. The wine list is great too. Nothing fancy here and that's just right. When you have people visiting from out of town, show them the Bedford strip and then take them down North 6th toward the BQE and show them where the locals eat. Food and Comfort add up to make this place a staple of Williamsburg culture. Don't just walk by it... GO IN. YOU'll LOVE IT!

Excellent excellent brunch - fantastic! And almost completely hipster free, I'm praying they don't discover it anytime soon.

The best kept secret in NYC. The atmosphere and friendly people have made each of my visits there some of my best experiences in visiting New York. It may be off the beaten track, but aren't most of the best things that way.

Trying to make a last minute Valentines reservation and finding Dumont and Aurora booked solid, I stumbled upon n.6. The restaurant's off the hipster beaten path, the atmosphere's relaxed yet romantic and we didn't spend a fortune. An appetizer, 2 entrees, a bottle of wine and dessert came to only about $60. Worth the money if you're looking for something less crowded than the usuals but still decent. A good find.

A real treasure! Delicious, fresh, authentic Italian food served in a comfortable, soothing setting that will make you feel like you've traveled to an ageless European bistro for a wonderful meal. Peter and Nichole are the standard by which all hosts should be judged, and the wine and beer selection is exceptional. My wife and I have made this "our place." Try it once, and you will undoubtedly become a regular. See you there!!

I went here the other day and it was really tasty. Nothing super special, but really good. I recommend it.

Recently, I went out with 4 of my cousins to see an art exhibit in Williamsburg. We happened upon N0. 6 by chance, and I must say it was an excellent find. A nice cozy-hip place, which was just right for relaxing and having conversation. We started off with an anti pasti...which was fresh and very tasty..enough for all of us to pick on. some of us had the raviolli which was excellent. We had paninis..which were great, I found mine to be just a bit dry, so I slipped some of the tomatoes, that came on the side into the sandwich, and it was perfect. We all ordered a beer or two from the chalk board which featured a nice choice of beers from Germany,Italy,Czech republic as well as others...we all enjoyed them, and got to try beers we've never had before. All in all I highly recommend this place. All 5 of us know good Italian food, and this was great.

very nice atmosphere, quiet and intimate. the food was not as good as i expected though, sort of standard semi-fancy italian, nothing out of the ordinary. you mainly pay for the nice and dark atmosphere. good wine selection

My wife and I discoverd this place while trying to avoid being overrun by hipsters. Nichole and Peter are both wonderful hosts and the decor and ambiance are both very pleasing. It is a must for couples. Try the bruschetta and the pannini. For drinks ask for the beer-served-in-a-wooden-stand (I don't remember the name of it). It is excellent (very strong) Than treat yourself to some Vino Santo, an italian dessert wine that is not readily available anywhere else.
