A very authentic falafel and humus counter joint conveniently located at the top of the subway stairs. Bring an appetite and a breath mint -- the food is as good as it is garlicky.
From New York Magazine:
"Perfectly situated to capture the young and the ravenous exiting and entering the Bedford Avenue subway stop, this fluorescently lit Middle Eastern joint supplements typical pita-parlor fare with novelties like vegetarian kibbeh and a flat pie adorned with onion, pine nuts, and sumac. But unless you keep a close eye on the assembly of your fried-to-order falafel sandwich, it will be overstuffed to the breaking point."
From Village Voice
"Conveniently materializing just above the Bedford stop on the L, Oasis immediately blew the neighborhood's other pita purveyor right out of the water. The appetizing salads are fresh, the baba is appropriately mellow and smoky, and the grilled-to-order lamb kebab and grainy sausage make this place worth going many subway miles to get to. Imagine living nearby."

Yum yum yum! I love the variety of pickles/salads they use to STUFF all their sandwiches. I'm a die-hard fan of the Shawarma and Shish Taouk. The sandwiches are total belly-busting lunches for a meager $5. French and filling, a great deal. Check it out!

The falafel is so great it is the only thing I've tried. They add tons of salad on top...it can be a bit messy, but I say, the more the better!

Incredibly, ineffably mediocre. If you want quality, steer clear. The food is bland, underconsidered, and incomplete. Having been raised on the stuff, I can tell you-- this equals chef boyardee in american cuisine. convenient, but poor.

Falafel, shish taouk, hummus, babaghanouj, tabouleh, zaater - all AMAZING! Warning: do not eat directly before bed unless you have a serious garlic addiction/tolerance. Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!!
