I had been to Parish on two occasions and would never go back.
The food is crap. I ordered the steak and more than half of it was pure fat that had to be cut off.
My companions ordered what is apparently their special- wilted salad.

Parrish is an over priced, under staffed letdown. It has no personality, no warmth, food is ok for basic fare. Place seems to be going out of business soon, when ever I pass by its empty except for brunch. Bad location doesnt help either.

Considering that most restaurants in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint neighborhood end up being terrible and below par in service standards, Parish Diner has been a delightful treat.
The menu has a nice range of food, fresh ingredients, exquisite presentation, hearty portions and tasty. The waitstaff is very friendly which is a plus.
Why all the bad reviews if patrons are willing to spend at overpriced joints like Dumont, Diner, My Moon etc. with bad service and suffocating crowds.
There is always a fun movie playing (Nosferatu, Labyrinth) and it is great for a romantic date or a group gathering.
Refreshing place.
By the way- steak is $20 and Chimay was $7...top that!

I went to Parish twice. The day after it opened and then a couple of weeks later. I thought it was very good. I don't know why people are saying it is overpriced. Steaks cost thirty bucks in most restaurants nowadays. Seriously, where can you order a steak for 20 bucks? The place is decorated very well. I hope they start to show games on the large screen. The owner seemed really friendly. He visited all of the tables. As far as the price of beer...are you kidding me? People will pay $1500 a month to rent an apartment with no sink in the bathroom in this neighborhood, but bitch at a $5 beer? Completely irrational--like most of these reviews.

okay so it looks as though it used to be a church - yet it wasn't
it claims to be a diner - yet it isn't
and the people here say that it's terrible - but it's not.
Sure Parish is confused but for a fun brunch, served by friendly staff in surroundings that are pretty nice you could do a lot worse

Lets me end this. The shoestring potatoes are thin, crispy and excellent. I had the Fried Chicken dish and let me say it was one of the best I've ever had. The black eyed peas, collard greens, and cordbread were amazing sides that were in a tasty sauce. Everyone I was with ws very happy with the food. The space is actually very cool and looks like a diner in a southern church. Very different. Don't believe the other reviews. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!!

-- overpriced. more than willing to pay for quality, but this place just doesn't have it.
-- food was mediocre at best, felt like i could get about the same from anytime (for half the price)
-- had high hopes for the sweet potato and plantain fries, but they're too thin to have any flavor (we're talking thinner than shoe-string, more like angel hair) and broke off when dipped in the dipping sauces (who charges extra for dipping sauces, by the way?)
-- lastly, what's with all the american flags and cheap chain diner booth seats? i'm pretty sure i saw the exact same ones in a waffle house in georgia. not that decor can make or break a place, but it doesn't really coincide with the $25 entree prices.

ahh, i had high hopes for this place, alas it was a bitter dissapointment. the food was a bit pricy for the area, the service was ok at best , but the worst is how the owner, is a scumbag

Just looking at the menu, I'm disappointed by the prices, selection. I usually look forward to new fare in the neighborhood, but I doubt I'll drop by right away to check this one out.

scant vegetarian options and everything is overpriced. a major disappointment for me! haven't been to brunch though, perhaps it is better than dinner?

Decent at best. Avoid the $29.99 (or was it $39.99?) steak - half of the thing was fat that i endded up having to trim off.

come on chris, you just bank on hipsters, while you scumbag people by taking air out of your neighbors cars? just becuase she park in front of your garage? bad business.

Good burgers, but overall I think the menu is too pricy for its location. $5 Bud bottles, thats all I have to say

beef brisket and peach sandwich on a biscuit is bangin. the shoestring sweetpotato fries need a little more substance tho.
