FROM CITY SEARCH: PT Restaurant, Williamsburg's latest intimate Italian dining spot, has opened its doors to the cozy, lower-level eatery. The restaurant is an offspring of D.O.C. wine bar, providing the same great service on the south side of the neighborhood. Heading the kitchen at PT is Alfonso Montfusco, famous Italian chef and culinary writer. He has created a very concise menu, consisting of quality, modern Italian dishes. The Carpaccio beef with walnut-infused olive oil, chives, chili peppers and citrus dressing is just a preview of more excellent creations to come. The interior is reminiscent of an old post office; an earth-toned atmosphere with a communal table setting. With an affordably priced list of fine Italian wines and a menu that changes every two months, there's a good reason to stop back here on a regular basis. *Cash Only*

I love this place. My husband and I go once a week after work to unwind and escape the city. The garden is a oasis where you may see the chef come out and cut fresh herbs to use in your dish. The atmosphere is relaxing. Not quite a place for a quick bite, more of a sit and enjoy the food and wine. The food is as authentic as the Italian accented staff, who are attentive yet unobtrusive.

getting the chocolate cravings I ordered three chocolate cakes for takeout.
the were the size of a thumbnail - but even worse tasted like the cheap 99cent guilty treat one might find on a deli shelve.
Only difference: They came at a mind boggling price tag of 10 bucks a pop.
two thumbs down for that...

Unfortunately their small kitchen gets overwhelmed on overpacked weekends with the garden open. We waited 2 hours for our main course to arrive. Apparently another table there received the same service. They were most apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine and dessert for free, but when the late entrees finally arrived, they were cold. While I appreciate their courtesy, I can't say I'll be going back again.

PT is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, without being over bearing. Everything from the wine, duck salad, gnocchi, scallops were to die for. The scallops were especially delicious. I loved the atmosphere, casual but still sexy with dim lighting and candles. Definitely check it out!!

I've eaten here twice and have absolutely loved both times. The chef goes to extreme lengths to ensure the ingredients are fresh and prepared from scratch... the pasta, the vegetable stock, the pesto, and everything else. The cheese platter is pricey but worth it! The pastas are delicious -- especially the barley and the chocolate boar ragout. Pricey? Yeah, a bit. Cozy? Definitely. Worth it? Undoubtedly.

Just to clarify, I'm not the owner. We thought the portion sizes were fine, especially considering the rich ingredients. I agree this is maybe not the best value, but I did not leave hungry by any means.

Nice decor, but there's nothing hearty as the previous reviewer (which appears to be the owner states). Besides the $21 for a 4-6 ounce skirt steak ($2 piece of meat), they have two glass beakers in which they measure wine (one for white and one for red). They don't wash out the beakers in between pours, so that rose might have a hint of merlot in it.

I had dinner here the other night and I agree, the mood and decor of PT was very cozy and inviting. It wasn't at all trendy or overrated like many other local spots tend to be. I am not familiar with the style of cuisine that was on the menu, but everything was rather good - small portions though. If you're looking for an intimate, low-key place to dine, check out PT. And yes, it's pricey!

I tried out this place twice recently, drawn in by the atmosphere - cool old lighting fixtures and exposed beam ceiling in a below street level setting. The look is sort of affected overall, but cozy, with informal but thoughtful touches like the rough stone for a cutlery rest and kitchen towel napkins at communal tables. The food is quite good, but some things way overpriced. $21 for a 4 oz. skirt steak? Seriously? I'd definitely go back, but plan on arriving heavy on cash and light on appetite.
