WE SAY: Verb Cafe is really three places in one--a great morning to go coffee shop, a cozy afternoon soup/salad/sandwich cafe, and a romantic evening dessert/wine bar. It features an eclectic decor, the best coffee around, and a friendly atmosphere. Stop by for some Ciao Bella Gelato or H&H bagels. Their house blend of coffee (No. 7) is available by the pound. On a down note, it can get really crowded.

Crowded, yes. Cramped, yes. But the coffee, IMO, was tasty, hot and good. The house blend (No. 7, I believe) is my standard AM brew at home. Staff attitude varies, but mostly 'New York' cordial...

The coffee here sucks, the staff's attitude is terrible, the place is filthy and sticky, and its filled with the lamest bedford trash ever.

has anyone else noticed how the place often has a really unfortunate toilet-y smell? ick, well, maybe that was just in the summer. on the bright side-- the staff is really nice and accommodating, they made me a "chocolate chai" once just for kicks. good coffee, decent wine at a decent price, a laid-back and a nice cozy atmosphere. they just need to fresh breeze through there now and again.

Verb is fantastic. I once went to the cheese shop where i bought a baguette and some cheese. The nice and attentive Verb staff gave me a plate and cut the bread for me. And the coffee was great

The time we visited, the toilet had no toilet paper, and the soap bottle was completely empty. It's the only toilet there, so presumably the staff were going back to food and beverage preparation without adequate hygiene.
The cafe is very cool, and the coffee (drunk before seeing the toilet!) was fine, nothing special, but the staff were extremely self-important, making bad jokes too loudly instead of attending to the line. It was like they wanted to be seen and heard.
I wouldn't return. Starbucks might be against the Bedford template, but at least you can be sure the place will be clean and the service will be attentive.
